40 miles in the Tucson desert. (Pics)

Beautiful day in the desert, low 90’s and a slight breeze. I went out on one of my favorite routes.

Started out heading towards the base of Mt Lemmon along Catalina Highway:

Mile 0, no where to go but up:

The first mile is bugger:

On top of the climb of Freeman Rd. Looking back toward Mt. Lemmon, one of these days they’ll put in a bike lane:

I’m jealous of your nicely paved roads and large shoulder for riding but how anyone can explain 8 shades of brown as beautiful I’ll never know…

Great pics!

I’m going to miss doing this ride.

Thanks for the memories.

gorgeous.

Nice! I love the cacti.

Pretty! Pretty! Except I would lose my mind if I had to bike a road as straight as Soldier Trail/Freeman Rd. How far are you biking on that road?

Growing up in Cleveland, I thought I would never get used to the brown, but after 20 years, I really see it for it’s beauty.

Soldier Trail/Freeman Rd isn’t that bad. It’s actually not one continuous road, From Mt Lemmon you head about 4 miles and then you have to go west 1 mile, south 1 mile and then back east 1 mile to meet up with Freeman Rd about 3 - 4 miles. Both roads have nice rolling sections although Freeman is a great climb for the last 3 miles.

Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing!
