Now that I am moving to one bike only and I like to have the option of aerobars even on a drop bar, I am thinking these might fit the bill.
Run the normally without the extensions for day to day riding and have a nice aero drop bar, then when I do get the chance to race again, I can just add one the extensions and I am assuming they could be alright for 40km or shorter.
I am looking to have an aero drop bar with the option of adding extensions so either this or going with a drop bar that is aero and adding on a system like the OVAL Concepts stem and attachments seems to be really the only way to get an aero drop bar with options for extensions later.
A friend of mine had these and hated them. I believe the arm rest pads are made of some kind of hard rubber, and are pretty uncomfortable, nor were height adjustable. Also made it impossible to ride using the tops. Not my personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt.
The Pro’s do not come with the padding and I am not looking for padding as I can sort that out myself. I have a great ideal on that already. What I would like to find out is what the weight of these are without the aerobars attached. If I were to go with these, I would change out the bolts to button head ti and most likely use my HED extensions with some modifications anyways.
Would just like to hear personal experiences with these if possible. I have searched the forum already and found some interesting reports form Campled who was using them and have sent a PM as well. I do not have anyone local that sells them so hearing from people that are using then and have used them would be great.
I have the Ltd version on an S2 and love them. With the Ltd version, the tops have gel inserts and they are not 'hard rubber" in the least, very comfortable if fact. The cons are they are pricey and running cable housing is arduous.
I was going to suggest Campled, who had them on his Cervelo, but you´d seen that already.
I went budget Zafiro on my TT/road build, inspired by Campled´s excellent bike. Obviously with me being such a cheap arse there was no way I was going to spend any significant money.
I got a set of BBB Wing bars on eBay for €8 sent, with the flat top, and just threw on a set of €20 clipons, not on this picture.
Anyway, here are some reviews from the Interweb that you may or may not have seen. First one gives the weight.
i have the team version. couldn’t really get comfortable with rubber tops even on the indoor trainer. in the end i relented and took the clamps/armrests from my ventus and mounted them onto the bars so i have bog standard extension/armrest on them. kind of defeats the purpose but it gets me in a comfortable powerful position for draft-legal or technical tris. It takes 4 screws to remove the whole armrest/extension assembly from the drop bars. didn’t actually weight them but they are not that light.
i was previously on the oval concepts aergo r900 with their SCCS over/under stem clamp aerobar system, and the aerodynamic profile of the aergo bars is better. i think if it weren’t for the LONG time it took me to get all the housing routed just right in the Zefiros i would have gone back to the oval concepts aergo bars.
didn’t actually weigh the bars but subjectively, the oval aergo bars are lighter.
if cost is no concern, are you really want light weight, get the zipp vuka sprint bars, and the thomson x4 stem with Jtek engineering’s aerobar. that would be the lightest. i would go for it except the x4 stem doesn’t come in the angle/length i want.
I would love to see how you have them set up and would it be possible to let me know what the aerobits weigh. So all mounting hardware and aero extension system. I figure they almost all weigh the same so that would give me a weight of the bar as well.
Good to know about the pads not being uncomfortable. Have you ever used them without the pads. My new system will not have pads but will have the option to run armrests.

??? The pads are integrated to the top of the bars… I can’t see how you can possible use the Zefiro without them
