38cm aero base bar

I’ve searched everywhere but can’t seem to find an aero-oriented base bar in a 38cm width and 31.8 clamp. I know it’s pretty narrow (especially for my shoulder width) but I’ve been on a 38cm 3T Rotundo bar on my roadie for years and love it. I realize round vs aero without going to a foil design isn’t much of a gain but I just really like the aesthetics and feel of a flattened bar top.

Hoping to stay under $100 and I’d almost say I prefer aluminum with an upturn at the ends if possible. Truth-be-told, I’m up for any other options besides the completely round Cinelli bullhorn bars.

Check out the Vuka Alumina. It’s 40 cm, but feels narrow. Aero shaped and about $80. A GREAT bar. If 38 is “pretty narrow for your shoulder width,” why not get 2 cms wider?

For what you’re seeking, it’s rare to find aluminum. Not big demand for 38 cm… There are some nice carbon ones out there, but they’re very pricey.

Another option is to cut the drops off a drop bar, but I don’t recommend that approach…

Felt makes one in 39cm:

You may be able to find the older version for cheaper, but that one is 26.0 cm clamp, so you would need shims

Yeah I’ve noticed the lack of demand… I know it’s only 2cm but then again, the 42cm on there now is only 2cm more than that. It’s just what I’ve grown comfortable with after 3 years. Though I know I won’t be on them often, I get wrist pains from the wide grip.

If the Zipp bar is 40 outside-to-outside that would be awesome… my only worry is the zero drop since I have the Sram brake levers with no lip whatsoever. I could probably build up the tape a little if I needed a bit more grip.

Zipp uses outside to outside measurement instead of center to center. Because of this their 40cm should be the equivalent of most 38cm.

Narrow is aero. I’m a roadie and run 38xm myself on the road bike. On a tt bike I would just run the narrowest bars I could find that don’t suck shape wise.

Deda Crononero comes in 38 in flat and drop with 31.8 clamp.

Otherwise the only other ones I have found are Nitto with a 26.0 clamp.

The Zipp is 42 cm outside to outside – no wonder it feels narrow. Sorry I was wrong earlier; it looks like they don’t make a 40 even.

If you’re looking to stay under $100, my recommendation is to look for a used Easton Attack. Probably the best option you’re going to find in a 38cm within your price range.

Order placed and the Deda low rider is on its way… Other than the fact it’s round it’s exactly what I was looking for. Last one in stock it would appear as well so I hope it’s there.

Although, it would appear it’s measured outer-to-outer at 38cm so that’s even narrower than I was looking for and exactly what I want even if the drop puts a little more face into the wind.

Thanks for the advice to everyone.

That is a sexy freaking bar but it lists for $750 haha… I think you meant the Deltaforce but Easton only lists it as a 42cm

They are 38cm c-c and slightly flattened to about 2cm thick by 3+ deep. So not quite as bad as feared.

I was talking used, but yeah, I did a quick look around and it looks like they’d set you back $200+ used. My bad, thought I’d seen them for less than that.

Only one under $100 that I came across was the Cinelli Lola, but as you said, strictly round bars there.
