3/4 Jammers... yes/no?

I looking into getting a pair of 3/4 jammers and was wanting to hear feedback if anyone has had any experience with them… Maybe the Speedo FSII

That depends on the use.

Training: please don’t get these. Jammers seem to be the trend for training, but as a life long swimmer, it just gives me a way to pick out the good swimmers from the bad. Dude walks in with his jammers on, aqua sphere goggles, workouts in a binder and I know exactly how fast he’s not going to be. Seriously though, if you rock jammers for training (because in the end, who gives a shit as long as you’re training) get the poly ones so they last waaaaaayyyyyyyy longer. I think speedos is called the Endurance.

Tri racing: I could never stand something that long for running, but the trend seems to be to cover our bodies when we race. Compression socks, long shorts, full sleeves, one rubber glove, hat, glasses… Not my cup of tea, but whatever makes you feel good.

Swim racing: Perfect.

ive seen some very fast swimmers (oly trials finals) wear them, but they are definitely not popular.

as a general rule, you want the max coverage possible for the speed benefit.

I wear them. I like them. I do not care what “real swimmers” think of me. I would not be caught dead in a “real” speedo. As stated above: it’s training, so who cares.

I have 2 pair of Speedo Endurance jammers that I wear for almost all of my training and they seem to last forever. Best bang for buck on any training gear I have owned.

Yeah, I bought a Speedo Endurance brief in August when I started swimming again, and its still going strong. Was skeptical of the $40-$45 outlay, but I can’t complain now!

I’m assuming that you’re trying to say that I’m wrong about something that I posted, but I can’t tell what.

Just this statement, I think it may be a little broad:

That depends on the use.

A: I could be wrong, but I don’t think he’s training in that picture.

B: You left out the last part of my post where I said for racing the suit is… what word did I use?.. perfect.

C: I don’t do pink.

Point is, the OP is asking about a very expensive suit and we need to know it’s intended use to opine. If he’s training in it, maybe he doesn’t know that he can save a shit ton of money by getting the endurance jammer.

Just to clarify. . . . .Are you suggesting that every person training in the pool should wear these?

and NEVER these?

…Dude walks in with his jammers on, aqua sphere goggles, workouts in a binder and I know exactly how fast he’s not going to be.

My first thought was, gee I guess I’m not part of the “cool crowd” after all. I never got the memo that jammers in training are a faux pas.
My 2nd thought was what the fuck do I care what you think of me when I walk on deck. You should be paying attention to your own set, instead of focusing on whether I’m lame enough to wear the “wrong” goggles, or god forbid, carry my wko assignment with me.
To the OP, wear what you have & don’t worry about it.
Nothing matters until the timer starts, and even then it matters very little.

X2 - I had an endurace suit (not jammers) that lasted well over a year of 3-4hrs swimming/wk, finally got to change suits after I lost it one day, otherwise I’d still be wearing it 2 years later! Now I only use endurance, Jammers when the pool is running cold, briefs when its warm.

ha ha. I’m a lifelong swimmer and I train in jammers. I also sometimes wear a drag suit or a speedo…just depends what I grab first out of my bag. Been know to wear Aqua Spheres and even bring Workouts in a Binder to the pool…

x2 on the Speedo Endurance…they last forever.

Good lord people. I was clearly playing on a stereotype and making a joke. In the same paragraph I stated ‘who gives a fuck as long as you’re training’ and made a suggestion as to a better training jammer option for less money.

Take it easy. Wear a chicken suit and full-helmet goggles for all I care. Read entire posts, not just one sentence, and gather the picture that’s being drawn.

Back on topic. The Speedo suit being questioned is intended for SWIM RACING. The OP wants to know about it so lets clear up what the intended use for the suit.

I really don’t care what anyone wears to swim in as long as your girl/boy bits aren’t exposed. There’s families at my pool. I did have to ask a regular patron to buy a new suit. His was TOTALLY worn paper thin and his baby bird was in clear view. Dude even put up a fight about not needing a new suit. Jeez buddy, I just told you that the other patrons were complaining about seeing your tackle and you really want to fight about it? He ended up buying the ugliest speedo I’ve ever seen. Well played mister… now where can i get one of those?

For whatever the reason, the FSII silver suits last forever, the black ones only last about 4 months. I don’t know why, but the black ones seem thinner.

I’m rocking the zoot briefs and loving them. I’m English-German, so I can’t rock the banana hammocks like my psuedo country man Faris Al-Sutan.

Have to agree. Speedousa.com. Usually on sale as well.
