2XU wetsuit sizing? How does yours fit?

Any 2XU wetsuit people out there? Does your size fit the sizing chart?

I’m 6’, 161 lbs.

I ordered a medium tall, 5’10" to 6’4", 163 to 183 lbs and it’s a bit tight up top. Too tight. Like, can’t breathe tight.

Do these run small? Your experience?

I love my 2XU which seems to be snug but comfy. It doesn’t restrict my arm movement at all. I’m 5’8 and weigh 155. I bought mine from TriSports and they claim a suit doesn’t fit proerly if it doesn’t take 15 minutes to put on and feel claustrophobic. They’ve fit thousands of athletes but I’m certainly not going to downsize based on this advice. I tried a size 4 Orca which seemed to fit fine but it didn’t mold to my shape like the 2XU does.

Do you have a larger chest (swimmer’s build)? Any good shop should let you return the suit if you don’t think it fits right. TriSports uses a wetsuit “assistant” to help people select the right suit based on their measurements. They’ll also let you try any suit in the pool for 30 minutes – if you don’t like, return for a full refund or exchange.

So what size did you get?

I purchased the small medium Comp 1. What size is yours? I’ve purchased other 2XU products and love everything from them. Everything seems to fit me great. I have more of a biker build – small upper body, tree trunk thighs, and, in my wife’s words, “bird legs” below the knees.

Sorry, I forgot that you posted the size you purchased.

I’ve tried on their suits and talked to one of their ‘technical people’ (2XU employee that seemed to know what he was talking about). His take on the suit cut was that for the more expensive 2XU wetsuits, the cut is based on a more elite ITU style build of athlete. In other words if you are not a bit stringey and starved you might find their higher end suits a bit snug. I keep a sample of blubber around me for when the bad times come and to provide some much needed bouyancy though the catch of the stroke (my technical reasons) so 2XU was not for me.

However, once I’ve completed my six moth water andfukallelse diet and thinned down to the weight of a starving weasal, then I may reconsider.

Trisport’s “wetsuit sizing expert” told me that every manufacturer out there tries to build a specific niche based on different athletic builds. He claimed that Ironman suits are the only ones that are truly made to accommodate every type/size/build of athlete out there. If this is true, it is up to the buyer to do his/her research and try on plenty of wetsuits. I wouldn’t consider buying one used unless you could try it on first.

chris from 2XU here.
the key to any high end suit with such flexible rubber is getting it on properly.
you have to get the bottom ALL the way up in your inseam BEFORE putting the top half on. seriously, give yourself a bit of a wedgey. this helps to get all the rubber needed for the upper body. from there, be sure to pull the arms up to give room in the shoulders, and the last thing to do is zip it up. if you zip it up too soon, it will fit, but feel tight. Finally, as you most likely know, you do want the suit to be skin tight, as it loosens up a little when you get in the water.
the suits have been running very true to the size chart, so I would not suggest going any bigger than the MT based on your height and weight.
hope this helps
