2XU Compression Tri Short Sizing

I need a new pair of tri shorts and really liked my old pair of 2XU shorts. I don’t care much about the claimed benefit of the compression in these shorts, I like the chamois, I like no drawstring, I like the color, and I’ve had good luck with 2XU.

My question is sizing. The size chart reads.

S-28-31"
M-32-34"

I have 31" waist and very thin legs, but about about 6’1" tall. So I am at the upper end of the sizing for small based on the waist, however, I can’t imagine many people have legs skinnier than mine, so I think the smalls would work there. But I am too tall for them at 6’1" to be wearing a size small?

I figure the mediums might work better based on my height, some clothing I own has a waist of 32" so that could work. I am just worried my skinny legs won’t fill them out.

Any one actually own these things yet?

i have the mediums. I’m 6’, 172 lbs, 32" waist, not so skinny thighs. The legs are narrow but the material stretches quite a bit. I’m a bit disappointed in the chamois, I find that it is too narrow in the middle section and causes a little discomfort in the crease area between your leg and groin. Need lots of nut butter. I was looking for tri-shorts with more than the typical minimalist chamois. Not sure these are worth the money but that’s MHO. I’m going to try De Soto Riviera shorts next. There is a review on Tri-sports U.

I’m 6’1", about 158.

Worried the mediums might be too loose and the smalls too short.

I think you need to try them. I don’t have skinny legs, and I was near the bottom of the waist measurements for the large (35-38 I believe). I’m 6’2, 180, 35" waist and the waist band is pretty snug. So I would be more worried about the smalls being uncomfortable in the waist.

I agree about he chamois being narrow. I’m not sure I’m loving them with my adamo yet.

Thanks, that helps, don’t want them pinching the waist.

If you’re a large I should be good with a medium.

Agree that these shorts and the Adamo may not be a good fit - same problem for me.

I don’t know anything about this online vendor but someone affiliated with them posted the link down below and promo code in another thread. The thing I noticed on that site is that you can order 2 sizes and they will include a free return shipping label to return the one that doesn’t fit. I saw that they carry all the shorts you are asking about. I’m 6’0 and < 155 so I usually fit between a small and a medium as well so I feel your pain. Because of my height I’m always on the lookout for shorts/suits with long inseams (and am currently considering the DeSoto line especially the trifoil).

I would give a try to Skins Tri shorts instead of 2xu

pricewise about the same

I found 2xu to become bit loose over time

.

Yeah, I feel like I may be sitting right on the seams of the chamois. Too late to send them back, I’ve already done a pretty good ride in them.

Who knows. Maybe I should have considered that first.

What size did you end up going with? I’m in the exact same situation as you.

You would likely be able to wear either. I can wear either small or medium (waist 31) and even though my legs are filled-out, my guess is that even on the skinny legged people that because of the compression style they end up still being tight.

For the most part I gave up tris and now just run, haha.

Not because of my inability to find the right size shorts though.

Well, at least someone might give me some kudos for using the ‘search’ function and not starting a new thread asking the exact same thing! ha

Thanks guys, I figured I’d probably be safe with either, but I just wanted to double check.
