Anyone seen these? Do they work like and/or as well as compression socks? I want to try compression socks for calf pain, but, I am picky about my socks. I really like my current running socks. So, is this the solution?
I have a pair and have run in them five times- four times here in the U.S. wearing them under tights and once in Bonaire in warm weather while wearing shorts.
I like them, but I don’t know if they offer any real benefit beyond simply feeling good- which may be benefit enough.
I have pretty noticable lower leg problems. You may have seen my posts onthis forum about heel pain, etc. These didn’t make that go away- nor were they represented to do so- but they may offer some limited “stabilization” effect of the tissues in the lower leg while running. They do feel nice and supportive.
The sizing is relatively straighforward. I have a 15 & 3/4" diameter calf at its largest point and I am wearing the medium size. I think “black” on this forum asked me my calf measurement in a PM and I’ve yet to respond (about 500 PM’s in my box). Sorry about that- 15 & 3/4" is my measurement.
I can’t profess to any tangible benefit but I will continue to use them simply because they feel good. I like 'em.
my impressions same as Tom. I have tried compression socks too but these feel much more tighter, and I didn’t like the “sock” part of compression socks.

Cool. That’s what I was hoping to hear. I have a birthday coming up, so, I think these will be on my list. Thanks.
So what size do you wear? I just measured 15.5 inches, which comes out to 39.4 cm. The size chart say medium is 40-42 cm. But, Small seems like it would be too small.
I’ve never tried compression socks, but I have calf problems and these seem to help quite a bit. I plan on doing my next HIM with them, and they are thin enough to wear under a wetsuit. I have mediums and my calf measures 39.0 cm. They are tight on me and I couldn’t even get the smalls on. Probably couldn’t wear compression socks on the swim anyway! I have other sleeves that aren’t quite as tight or thin, I like these best although they are expensive.
I got cramps in my calves when I did the Miami Man 1/2 IM & then the Palm Beach 1/2 marathon a few weeks later. So I went “compression crazy”
I got the 2XU compression tights and the calf guards. Got the ones that Zensah makes, got the CEP Compression socks from the ironman.com website, and then was told by a friend of mine about a website called ameswalker.com , so I bought some of their compressions stuff. Also got a few pairs of OxySox.
MY verdicts:
The 2XU & Zensah are OK I guess. I can’t really say if they work or not. The OxySox actual sock part is too thick for my taste to run with so I just wear them around the house.
My favorite (hands down) are the CEP Compression socks. They are the tightest of all the stuff I got. A pain in the ass to get on even LOL, but he sock part is very thin and good to run with (similar to the Ultimax Wigwam Ironman thin socks) I got 2 pairs of these and will be using them for my run in IM AZ in April !!! They do look absolutely retarded, but whatever works right ???
I wore Nike Dri-Fit compression socks last weekend at the Geelong 70.3 race…
After the race my quads were killing me, but my calves were 100% okay…even at post race massage, normally calves would be a bit tender, but they were fine, no soreness at all…
I ended up size medium fits nice. as you said i really don’t know if it makes any difference but it FEELS nice. One downside was i used them on the treadmill in a hot and non windy space and they were really hot! (and everybody kept staring at me)
SO there has to be a way to get the on quick right??? TOrbjorn did it…I am thinking of getting a pair for IMAZ!!!
