I’m looking for the above as a venue to complete weekly “Red Mist” swim sets during the next 10 weeks. Any pointers? I guess the only other stipulation would be the lane should be open enough to swim (mostly) continuously without sharing the lane with 5-6 other swimmers.
(I previously did these at the Metro Y pool, but the shortage of lifeguards has the Y pools in the Toronto scheduling a mandatory pause and shutdown for 10 minutes every hour to allow for staff breaks.)
I have been swimming at 2 City of Toronto municipal pools for the past 8 weeks and they are open for lane swimming for a continuous 135 minutes. No mandatory breaks. The crowds will depend on the pool and the time of day, but continuous swimming in the fast lane should be possible. Pre-booking normally not necessary but can easily be done at efun.toronto.ca Some indoor pool lane swimming cancellations lately due to the opening of outdoor pools and staff shortages, but hope that’s not too widespread.
I took a quick look, and Swimmers Guide has an extensive list, and it looks like someone has update the community pool info recently. I know Toronto is a big metro area, but looks like there are a lot of nice rec centers that offer lane swimming.

Thanks Rob. Which ones have you been using? The nearest ones have only 60min non-continuous blocks, but as Karen notes, this might have been updated for the summer season.
Happy to travel anywhere (except Giovanni Cabota, which scares me).
I like to go to U of T. Love the 50m LC set up several days per week over lunch. It’s kinda expensive at around $20 but I usually make that day a 2 hrs swim and clear my biz schedule so I have time
Although it’s a hike, the Douglas Snow pool in North York does have the 50m pool, and 50m is always a better workout (now that Summerville is closed).
If you use a Presto card and finish inside 2 hours, it only costs a single fare. I currently use the subway to visit someone in hospital up there and from Bloor to Sheppard (1 stop before the pool) it’s faster than a car, 15-20 minutes.
