2026 Bike Racing Thread ***SPOILERS***

Baller win. That crash was exactly as expected.

So many crashes. And Magnier was coming fast all on his own.

Not sure how many of you remember STer Roady, but we caught up today in Mallorca and rode Sa Calobra. He was way ahead of the curve when it came to modern aero.

Good thing their handlebars were wider than 40cm.

Benji Naesen pointed out the UCI safety folks for this stage were the race organizers themselves so classic UCI nonsense.

Seriously How the F——!! do you have a sprint finish with cobbles and crazy turns like that?

That’s a accident waiting to happen on the best of days, throw in the rain and it’s a miracle that it wasn’t worse.

Really feel for the Rockets, they had that lead out dialed

Apparently the UCI safety folks were observing the race in person from a roundabout with just over 50km to go.

At this level, where the margin of victory is so razor thin with the highest of stakes. There is no option to not go Spinal Tap 11 for speed.

Apparently 3 out of 4 safety commissaires for the race are also part of the race organizers
..seems like a pretty awful conflict of interest.

Haven’t pulled for a team since early Postal Service, but I really want to see those guys get one. They had it nailed with such a short run in after that last turn

I think I heard that one of the sponsors (I don’t recall if it was the just the stage, or the whole race) is the company that owns the toll collecting system, kinda like the Italian EZ-Pass, and they chose the route?

That wouldn’t affect the finalĂ©, much, as they usually decide where the finish would be based on “where can well put all these buses?” from what I’ve heard

Would be cool to see the ‘fonso not give up the time they expect him to. Make em sweat a bit. He’s having a good time.

Art Van der Lee is the break again for EF. EF Giro kit is drippin.

Milan is also in the break, picking up some cash and points.

Movistar has a team thing going on. Good to see.

A little windy out there. I thought Johnny’s hate for TNT on Escape Collective’s Spin Cycle was pretty funny when you compare TNT coverage to Peacocks coverage.

i find it very interesting the cost of trying to stick on the wheels a bit longer than your aerobic ability suggests. Who limits the damage the best? Is it the steady of spin cycle Gall? maybe Gee? would Pink or Pellizari have been better served ceding a bit earlier? dead flat tt will be interesting also

also - 245K mountain stage?? Jeepers.

Gall looks decent. I thought the gap was going to be bigger.

Gall looked great. So did Rondel!

Nice ride from Gall. It’s too bad he can’t TT.

Insane for a mountain stage. Jonas looked like 5 miles of bad road after finishing.

That’s very good news.
