2026 Bike Racing Thread ***SPOILERS***

I have the giro commentary on today (wonders do not cease - though no ligget, roll really helps for me). It sure sounds like Jan Christen does his own thing and they were REALLY lucky the Gnar was so dialed in and already on the best wheels at the front (conversely Turner probably lost his chance by having to make up so much ground with the super fast lead in with several turns after JC jumped and Mas and Sobrero went full tilt to keep him in check.

Doing your own thing on UAE, hmmmmn, how does that work out for riders not named Pogacar?

I think a Tudor rider went into the UAE back window and broke it….

As soon as I saw Christen tail-gunning I knew he was going to try the late attack. It’s not the first time he’s done it; he likes to go from the very back of the group. It’s a Cat 3 tactic IMO and it’s going to bite him big time one of these days.

I have seen enough of Christen to know he is not one of my favorite riders. His antics towards the Decathlon rider at UAE tour after they both crashed made it seem like he is an entitled thwat.

He is wildly talented and has some bad race habits for sure.

The announcers just confirmed that Rondel from Tudor did indeed go through the UAE rear window.

Keeping with longshot season, I’m going.with Fly Hindley for a second Giro. Red Bull is very strong.

Would love to see a Scaroni Christian Rubio 3 man break. The Real Housewives of the World Tour.

That’s one hell of a call.

It’s hard to figure out who is going to win with all of the crashes. What a way to get back together and what a further shit show from Arrieta.

That wet descend in the Giro, both Eulalio and Arrieta crashing. Arrieta’s enve wheel and tire looks like it’s made of ice, he is losing traction even on a straight line.

I can’t believe Arrieta made it back. Chapeau

Are UAE using Enve tyres too?

Nah, meant to say the combo with Conti tyres.

Crazy win by Arrieta, can’t believe he made it back but Eulalio looked cooked over the last 300 m.

Chapeau to Arrietta for persisting. I thought it was over for him after that crash, and then I thought it was over for him again after that wrong turn. Both those dudes looked wrecked at the end of that one.

I wonder about scenarios like that, making it back on. Combo of the brief ā€˜rest’ as he maneuvered to get turned around and the adrenaline pumping from the f up and import of the situation? probably better it was that thin plastic tape - the fatter ā€˜caution tape’ may have tangled up in Arieta’s drivetrain a bit.

That’s some big gear energy at the end.

Love how Arrieta crashed into the arms of the team after the finish.

I think its funny how Trek have Gatorade bottles on their bikes. I’m guessing a 0% chance there is actual Gatorade in those.

They were running GP500 TTs the day Yates washed out and everyone else went down.

Speaking of going down, I can’t believe they have let Denz back on the bike. He is clearly concussed.

Also, this finale is going to be trouble. Turns at 350m to go in a sprint…what could go wrong?

Edit: I hope they arrest that fan around 50.5 km who was stepping into the peloton and trying to hit riders. What a loser.

Props to the rider who took a jab at the muppet. Where’s the Badger when you need him?
