2026 Bike Racing Thread ***SPOILERS***

I don’t disagree with your take - but I’m secretly hoping that Kaden Groves can make a run at Ciclamino. The guy can get over hills and is pretty darn fast as well.

sure looks like sprint stage. to me i’d think 5 of first 6 stages should/could be sprint stages. maybe we see if the kaden groves types can drop sprinters tomorrow on the climb 15k or so out from the finish? last year the Mads v Wout dynamic seemed to mean fewer pure sprint stages. I’ll go Milan. It sure looks like Dectahlon and lil Trek are motivated.

I’m with @McNulty on Milan. I am waiting on him to literally break bars at some point.

Milan’s peak power for that half ridden early sprint was 1890 watts.

Also Giro dog strikes on stage 1 just after the 29 km mark.

@McNulty Great picks. Crashes like today make me hate cycling. I hope everyone is okay….that was horrible.

That sucked. Not much to take away from that, but Milan looked poor and Lund looked great.

Great call on Magnier, he has arrived. Hope everyone else is ok.

La Vuelta was absolutely savage today both with the weather and the climb.

Good for him. Apparently Milan hot 2,000 W :open_mouth:in spite of his 4th place, he seemed way out of position though.

Yeah his positioning wasn’t great. That whole sprint was a mess and Magnier was perfect all around.

Bulgarian G dog today but doesn’t count. Gotta be Italian dog on Italian soil.

Just made that rule up but it sounds good.

That is more than fair. I wouldn’t want to deprive all of those drunk owners who have been waiting all year to make a bad decision at a bike race.

100% Giro Dog must be Italian. He’s getting his Bulgarian teammates to soften up the peloton with some early attacks.

Soooo … is anyone still wondering who the UAE team leader will be?

Marc Soler finished 12th today - clearly he should expect full team support from here on out.

As far as Marc is concerned he’s team leader. Same goes for Jan Christen and he’s definitely 1v1 Soler or anyone else.

Hope we get a positive update on Vine soon. He went into that guardrail directly with his back

Yesterday, I was thinking Yates :open_mouth:

Great win by Silva, had to Google his stats, seems like the typical ~60 kg fast guy who is too light to go against the like of Milan, but can go over some climbs and do well in reduced groups. First Giro stage win for an Uruguayan.

@vols That was so brutal and concerning. I’m hopeful for everyone’s health.

How about La Vuelta? What a dream finish.

Wout doing a gravel race today, Wiebes and Vermeersch too. I feel sorry for all those poor souls that are participating. Wonder if that means he’ll make a tilt at gravel worlds? Although they’re in AU this year, which is a long way to go.

Magnier timed that perfectly and Milan hit the wind far too early.
