Stage 3. Giro goat strikes, hits, but neither goat or cyclist go down.
I was not expecting the Giro Goat! That was a close call.
Wout off the back, My Verona starting to lay it down for Madsman.
Giro Dog! and Mads in pink.
Big day.
Fun stage all around
When Ciccone (I think it was him?) slowed at the front I told my wife âwonder if Giro dog made it to Albaniaâ. Then they showed the replay and sure enough it did - hahaha
Giro Dog, Giro Goat and Mads in Pink. Vacek once again showing how strong he is. That was a fun day.
Hmmm, so another one of those stages that seemed tough to predict, and yet again LilâT says âhold my espressoâ and proceeds to execute a predictable race plan and deliver another Mads victory. Theyâre killing it.
Chapeau @WannaB for the g-dog pick, glad there were no casualties on that one, though Iâm not sure whether the goats are trying muscle in on the dogsâ racket or if theyâre teaming up. Pray for the riders if they get caught up in a dog vs. goat turf war.
Lil T is killing it as a team. I love how Mads talked about the team and the work from Cicco and Vacek in his post race interview. He mentioned he is looking forward to working for Ciccione in the mountains as well. Iâve never seen Mads so strong and climbing so well. I have to reiterate again how impressive Vacek has been too. Really incredible riding from him so far.
Did you notice how there has been no Giro cat? They apparently know Tiberi is in the peloton and have stayed away.
Mads P now the Danish rider with the most pro wins overtaking Rolf Sørensen! And he has a lot of career left in him
Mads has become one of my fav riders; 100% grinta.
Definitely! I love his interviews. He doesnât put up with much BS from the press, which makes them pick up their game to match his.
I especially like his comments about how he canât wait to work for his teammates later in the race - he mentioned working for Ciccone, and trying to get a stage win for Vacek.
By the way the Giro web site has lots of videos - good place to catch the pre- and post-race interviews: Video | Giro d'Italia 2025.
It sounds like Benoot to AG2R is a done deal. Also Stuyven is heading to DQS.
Mads has a lot going for him: strong, smart, tough as nails, good teammate.
I donât typically cheer for teams, but LilâT might be my fav right now. Theyâve got a great collection of riders and it seems to be a good environment.
Itâs going to be interesting to see how the decision to keep Mads home from the TDF goes. This Giro performance is really going to pile the pressure on them over that.
You forgot one thing: Mads also gets stronger the worse the weather gets! In all seriousness, maybe he doesnât get stronger, but he is less affected than others by bad weather.
As McEwen said, heâs an ATV. Great description.
We have a sprint stage tomorrow; who does everyone have for it? Iâm thinking this is a day for LL KooiJ
I get that they donât want to bring both Milan and Mads, and you can make a case for Milan being the preeminent sprinter in the peloton now. When youâve got a guy like that on your squad, you (and the sponsors) want to put him on display on the biggest stage, and you can certainly say heâs earned that right.
But Mads is looking like peak Sagan out there, basically like he was built in a lab to take the green jersey. Seems silly to squander that opportunity.
