If you were wondering if @scorpio516 would take his boot off our necks and leave a glimmer of hope for the top of the podium, you would be mistaken. We’re all playing for silver and bronze now. Well, not all of us, but five of us if we’re being kind to @windy here. I won’t be handing over the Lavender Cup/Empfield Trophy from the general admission section without a fight.
Oddly enough, everyone who hit KC in the GOTW also picked Philly; 0 of 15 picked KC and Washington. A dark omen for next week?
That’s my thinking. It will be close, and it will be high scoring. If Philly wins it’ll be on Saquon’s back, and you don’t score over 50 points with a Philly win without him ringing up points.
On the other hand,
If it’s close and KC wins obviously Mahomes is the likely MVP; he’s 7-0 in playoff come from behind game winning drives (Brady is second at 60% success), and it will likely push the points over.
Honestly no strong gut feeling about it like I did with the AFC/NFC championships but someone’s gonna get it done. Certainly don’t feel great betting against Mahomes…subject to change.
But…the Brotherly Shove could possibly account for two TDs, giving Hurtz an edge in the MVP contest. If he throws or rushes for a third, which is also very likely, even more so.
I might actually take the Under - Mahomes hasn’t faced a defense as ferocious as PHL; it’s going to be a struggle, every play, and points are going to be hard to come by
Conversely, PHL O-Line had been able to open lanes for Saquon, Jalen, and even Will FUCKING Shippley to breeze through; and that’s just running!!!
I see 13 KC - 10 PHL at half; 27 PHL- 20 KC final
If it comes down to trading field goals? Eagles are fucked - Jake has lost his shit
MVP- Barkley has been overloading in the 2nd half all year; he leads the comeback, and then some
Saquon needs 169 yards to beat the single season playoff rushing record. (FD pays just +500 for that)
If he runs for 205 again, that beats the SB record by 1 yard. (FD just +650)
But if he runs for just 29 yards he beats Terrell Davis’ 1998 complete season rushing yard record. (FD will pay +104, so almost even, if he does that in the 1st)
Interesting both playoff records are held by now-Commies: John Riggins ran for 610 yards in the 82 playoffs.
Timmy Smith had his only good game of his career in SB22 in 88 and ran for 204 yards and 2 TDs.
Timmy Smith ran for just 954 yards in his 3 year career and 5 TDs, so 20% of his career yards and 40% of TDs were in a single game.
