2024 Men's IM World Championship: The Full Field of Contenders

We’re just under two weeks away from completing the 2024 IRONMAN World Championships, with the men’s race scheduled for Saturday, October 26th. It’s the latest the race in Kona has been in over a decade.

Fifty-five professional men are on the start list, vying for their share of the $375,000 prize pool, with $125,000 awarded to the winner and paying down through 15th place. There’s also the 6,000 points to the winner for the IRONMAN Pro Series, currently led by Matt Hanson with a nearly 4,000 point lead on second place.

The field is lead by defending World Champion Sam Laidlow, who takes bib #1 for his title defense. The last men’s winner in Hawaii and course record holder Gustav Iden takes bib #4. Will we see another record-shattering performance (which would take a lot, given Iden’s 7:40:24 time from 2022)? Much will be up to the finicky weather, which as of now is showing low winds and a chance of light rain showers throughout the day.

We will be breaking down who we think will be contenders for the Championship and podium places early next week. But for now, the full list of athletes scheduled to race next Saturday:
