Just bought tickets to see Black Flag locally at the Observatory in Santa Ana. Will also see them again in Cincinnati in November. The Dickies and TSOL are opening for them in Cinci. My friend and I like to travel for concerts. A chance to get away from family and spend time in a different town. I do that a lot for baseball games.
I saw phish in Hartford a week ago. First large concert I’ve been to in years. I prefer small venues that hold 2000 people, but I was able to get tickets front and center which was pretty awesome.
I’m watching Green Day’s Lollapalooza performance on Youtube tonight. I don’t think I would want to deal with that crowd in this heat, but it looks like an absolute blast
Roger Waters at the Wells Fargo in Philly. Absolutely amazing show. Very political. There were some people around us getting upset and complaining even though he LITERALLY PUTS UP A DISCLAIMER!! My 18 year old daughter summed it up best… “It’s Roger Waters! What did they expect???”
Went both nights, Friday in a suite (100% due to a ticketing SNAFU compounded by some suite construction which impacted the seats my buddy had bought, not because we wanted to sit in a suite) and lower level seats on Saturday.
Great shows, the seats were actually better than the suite for sound, more immersive experience etc
Did hear some grumbling about politics at points during Saturday’s show, which always amazes me. Same when we went to see them in 2018 and a small number of people were complaining about his Trump-heavy video show for Pigs (3 Different Ones) and Money.
Just picked up tickets to Cheap Trick right down front in Kalamazoo and Joan Jett in Shipshewana. Both small venues with them as the headliners. I might be an old fart but these make me happy.

The State Theatre is a great venue. Does right down front mean in the pit? You prompted me to look up the date but it’s the same day as Iceman Cometh.
We went one row back for $100/ticket less - we were going to be in the pit but that much different is hard to justify

Saw the Outsidelands show on YouTube as well

Saw Joan Jett & The Blachearts in April, before they went on the stadium tour w/Def Lep & Co
Good times!!! Great diversity; old-time leather & lace bikers and brightly neon-haired Millennials w/PRIDE Flags
Going to see The Offspring Saturday night at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.

Fixed it for you.
Last Thursday my son took me to see Leon Bridges at the Forest Hills Tennis stadium in Queen, NY.
I was last there in 1982 to see Genesis (right before they sold out). One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Chester Thompson and Phil on dualing drums still resonates. Nostalgic, to say the least, but still an AMAZING venue.
While I prefer more rocking shows in general, it was a really good, soulful performance. Leon Bridges is really talented. Solo performance of “River” was the highlight for me. It was also nice to be surrounded by young people and hear some live contemporary music. Super thankful my son wants to share these kinds of experiences with me.
Tedeshi Trucks at the Beacon is next. Returning the favor and taking my son.

Love Leon Bridges, love Tedeschi Trucks. Saw Genesis in 1991!
Just saw Jack Johnson… great show, great mellow vibe.
Kenny Chesney is next, then Pearl Jam.

I saw Leon in DC in maybe 2018? Excellent show, River was perfect. I don’t listen to him anymore, associated inextricably with some difficult memories but he’s still on my top 10 list of favorite artists.

Sorry to hear that.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, as he played Beyond, I wondered how many of the swaying young lovebirds were planning on using it as their wedding song. Youthful bliss.
