2012 Rev 3 Cedar Point

Anyone have any idea when registration will open for next year’s race? Will there be any sort of “early bird” rate?

If your on Facebook they post info on early registration there. They seem to have a discounted rate for the first week or two after opening.

Heard from Team Fight, theyre going to be the official charity again for 2012, and they said signups for next year for CP will be coming up pretty soon.

Any idea on the date?

Looks like the date will be September 9th next year. Registration will open October 1st and we will run early bird pricing for 1 month on the full at $425.00. The old bike course will be back for next year!

Perfect! Thanks for the info.

Just paid my fee! See you Sept. 9, 2012

registered for my first half. can’t wait to ride the dragster!

How does the old bike course compare with the course that is on the site now?

Time for a bump. How is training going?

Darn it! The kids are back at school at that date. Couldn’t you guys do it two weeks or even a week earlier before labor day! I am sure there are a lot of folks who would want to race CP and bring their families to the amusement park, but making it Sept 9 will work only for the locals.

.

I doubt it would be cost effective for the park to allow them to take over during the on season. Needless to say, there were plenty of children around last year.

if ever you are going to skip school wouldn’t the first couple days be the best ones to skip? how much do you actually learn during those days?

I have kids learning from day 1. (FYI, if I were to skip school in the first days after break to do a race, I could be fired. It’s a shame that people don’t have that same attitude with their kids.) We take notes and have homework on the first day. You might think this is a dickish move. However, I would rather be a dick at the beginning, hit the ground running, and get everything done early than start slow and scramble at the end. The kids actually agree with this philosophy, especially when June motivation to learn is way lower than September. The worst days for learning are the last days before a break, not the first days back.

Of course they could skip school but it would have been nice to spend the week there in the park. I was planning to drive from NY, do the race, and have fun with the kids for the next three days. Any day in August prior to labor day would have been perfect. When was it held last year?

Hey folks. Just a quick not on the topic. We have looked at every date possible and many factors come into play. Number 1 is that Cedar Point doesn’t need the business earlier in the year. Their park is full and the hotels are sold out, so they somewhat dictate the date of the race. That said, we also have learned that kids all go back to school at different times. Some go back in August, some go back in September. So we loose either way!

All that said, we have a ton of kids at the race and it seems to work for them!

Hi Charlie,

OK, fair enough logic. In that case, I might not be able to do it and I was soooo hoping to try Cedar Point. Done Quassy Rev3 before and will be doing it again this year so I was ready for a change of Rev3 venue since I like your races being family friendly and all that. What’s the schedule for 2013 in CP? I know that’s far away but do consider doing it the week before labor day. I am lobbying at this early stage.

I should have used more pink I guess? I guess posting after a 20+ hr work shift is the best choice always. Sorry to offend if I did.

My 4 kids will be going with my wife and I this year the same as last year. They will likely miss a day or two or school again this year. My thought was/is what ever life experience they draw from a road trip with their family might be a larger impact and something they can’t “make up” by doing a couple extra days of homework.

If I had “it all” to do over again in life, skipping a few more days of school to have some life moments would be very high on that list of changes! Think about the whole process of life and the need for those two days of school. I’m thinking the kids will never say they missed that job promotion because they missed a couple days of school. I bet they do remember learning to have fun with their family though

(Sorry if this is a ramble or doesn’t flow very well I just woke up and typed this on a tiny iPhone screen)

I’m in for the half, gunning for an AG podium!

I have an elite/pro athlete looking into entry for CP. Can you provide any assistance? I’d PM, but no contact info on your profile.

Thanks
