2009 Muncie Endurathon

Registration is now open for the 30th Anniversary of the Muncie Endurathon taking place on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Click here to regsiter online or visit our website for a copy of the paper application. We have some cool new additions in the works for another great event. The sprint and aquabike events will once again be held so we have an event for everyone! Let me know if you have any questions.

Just signed up. Will be my first HIM!

Due to reasons beyond our control, we have been forced to change our race date to July 11, one week before the previously announced date. If this causes any issues for those already registered, please email us at muncieendurathon@yahoo.com and we will make sure to get you a full refund. Thanks! We are looking forward to a great 30th Anniversary Race!

I’m still drying out from this year’s race!
I’ll be there in '09…can you get the last 5 miles of the bike paved by then?

Always a great event that’s done very well.

Brian, how have you been? I haven’t seen ya in a while. As long as you are moving the dates, you should change the location to Whitewater. That would be a lot easier to get to for me…

we have been forced to change our race date to July 11,

That’s a plus for me. I take for ever to recover these days. I’m doing IMLou so one extra week to recover is good. Muncie is always a great event. What new stuff are you going to do?

Jeremy, come on down and check our race out, it will be worth the drive! Things have been good. Im in Janesville now, getting ready to get married in a couple weeks! Ill ride over one day for a little UWW cycling reunion.

This race is coming up soon. Who has done it before? Do you have race reports you can share for those of us who will be racing this course for the first time? Also, I noticed in a previous post that the last 5 miles of the course were unpaved last year…is this gravel or just super rough road? Anything else we’ll need to know? Thanks!

last 5 is paved, it’s just rough. quite rough. a lot of tar down to ‘fix’ frost heaves/joints in the asphalt. i think it might not be so bad, if not for the 50 miles of racing previous (on very nice roads).

course is very fast - pretty flat bike course, as well as the run. it could be hot though. run has excellent support though, so if it’s hot, they have sponges, ice water, and gatorade to go around. it may not be pleasant, but it’s certainly do-able.

last two years the temps have been mild (by midwest summer standards), although last year there was a downpour for most of the bike.

lake temp is generally right around 80, so it can go either way for wetsuits.

No race report, but the last section of road is just very rough…throws you around a bit. The entire course is rolling…the bike is on a blocked off highway and super smooth. Run course is rolling and hot with minimal shade. Everything is very well organized and has a local feel to it…it’s like racing and then going to a family picnic afterwards.

Went up to Muncie 2 days ago and rode the majority of the course (Greenway/35/36?) Its the flattest ride I’ve ever done. Boy was it WINDY though! Didn’t go near the reservoir. See you all in a week!
