The rear derailleur cable on my 2009 S2 (ultegra) just snapped at the hood. Shop is having problems.
He got a new cable routed (a tandem cable no less since the normal length wasn’t long enough), but it seems to ‘slip’ and constantly need tension adjustment to shift properly. No good.
Of course I should know better how to fix it myself, but being busy this w’end I thought I’d let someone else muck around with it. Has anyone had similar problems?
Slipping where? At the binder bolt? Tandem cable?
He couldn’t figure out where! presumably somewhere up inside the downtube at the catch that’s inside there. I wasn’t convinced he knew what he was talking about, but he said he had seen posts online from people with similar problems.

Your mechanic was right…complaints all over the internet.
Getting pretty fed up with the bad internal cable routing (ICS2) and the poor shifting on my 09 S2.
Cervelo only used the ICS2 on the 09 S2 and then switched to the ICS3 for 2010.
It truly was a very bad design.
Other than the crappy cable routing I love the S2. It’s a great bike and I really don’t want to get rid of it.
Has anyone switched to Shimano Di2 for this bike? Were you able to route the wires inside the frame?
This looks like my only option if I want to keep the bike even though it will be expensive.
Thanks,
