2008 Specialized Transition (1)

Has anyone had a chance to test ride one or finally recieved their bike yet and had a chance to take it out and really test it ?

Looking to get a new bike this year and trying to decide between the Felt, Specialized, and Cervelo. I have had a chance to try the Cervelo, and sit on the 2007 Felt DA - but LBS says they will not be getting the new Specialized for some time. So I thought I would see what everyone else thought of it - so that if it got bad reviews I may not worry about waiting.

Cheers

Specialized still doesn’t have the production bikes in stock. They say January-February.

I rode it on a trainer…

.

how did it handle ?

Specialized had a fleet of about 25 of these bikes at RAGBRAI this year for “test rides”. You give them your bike, Driver’s License and sign a “hold harmless” agreement form and you get the bike all day for about 70 to 90 miles. I swapped my aging Y-foil for a SRAM equipped Transition, complete with Zipp 404’s and Zipp Vuka bars. It rides nice. Really nice. It’s stiff enough for geting out of the saddle in either climbs or aggressive peddaling. I don’t know if it’s worth the coin or not. I guess if I raced more for money than personal pride I would have bought one. It’s a sweet ride regardless.

Does anybody know the difference between the S-Works and the Pro model? It is FACT 9 vs FACT 7 which doesn’t tell me much. Weight difference and stiffness to weight differences?

Thanks!

Specialized rep said it was 100 grams lighter for the s-works. the Carbon Fiber is a different lay-up and the S-works is suppose to be slightly stiffer. that is all the details I have.

We had the Specialized demo guy at our store and he said the S-works model w/ SRAM red and the Zipp Clinchers and 54 (which I believe is a medium) weighed in at the mid 15 lb’s.
