2006 Kurt Kinetic fluid trainer vs. 2006 Cyclops Fluid2 Trainer

Which would you guys recommend?

Let the battle begin!

I’ve had the Kurt Kinetic for about a month now and I really like it. It’s feels very solid when you’re on it and it is very solidly constructed.

However, it’s not as quiet as I would have thought…at higher RPM’s it’s pretty loud.

I have nothing to compare it to, though…maybe everything is loud at higher RPM’s…

Hmmm, noise, or volume shouldn’t be too big of a deal for me, as it’ll be in an area away from where my family will be. (I’ll keep it in my home office)

So, outside of it being loud, you like it huh?

Did you get a matt for the floor to save your carpet or flooring? Also, did you get a block or whatever to raise your front wheel?

CycleOps Fluid2. I have had mine for 3+ years of steady riding and love it. Got my Dad the new model and it is even nicer, smoother ride and has a better finish on it.

Yeah, apart from the loudness, I think it’s pretty great and definitely gives a “road difficulty”.

Haven’t gotten around to getting that little plastic doo-dad to prop up the front tire.
Right now I’m draping an old beach towel underneath it and using an old book to prop up the front tire.

It works. Haven’t fallen yet. (Of course, now I am doomed to crash into my TV by stating that).

Hahaha, isn’t that the way it always happens?

Yeah, I’ve got an old book I can probably sweat on too.

I’ve got a Kurt that I have been using for the past two months and think that it is great. After switching from a wind trainer which was really loud, I would never consider the Kurt to be loud enough to raise any level of concern. I have found that it is much more difficult that riding on the road. For me, 18-19 on the Kurt is equal to about 21-22 on the road. But all in all I think it is a great training tool and wouldn’t trade it.

have had a kurt for 2 winters. it’s great. the adjuster know crapped out on me 2 weeks ago, but they sent me a new one and it was here within 3 days.

Gary tingley has done some (informal?) testing looking into changes in resistance at the same roller speed, presumably as the unit warms up. he claims they haven’t seen this in the Kurt, but do see it in other trainers. maybe he can chime in.

Neither. Go to www.1upusa.com to get the best trainer in the market. Absolute incredible piece of engineering.

Looks kinda flimsy…I’ll take it back if you’re over 190lbs…

Kurt - hands down. Fantastic product, backed by some of the best customer service in the industry (right up there with deSoto, Renn and Sugoi).

I’ve also never heard a bad thing about 1-Up, although I’ve no personal experience with them myself. But ST seems to like them.

I say Kurt.
