Saw that the Compact cranks are now Shimano, not FSA. Good to see that Shimano finally got onto the Compact bandwagon.
Not my favorite brand but i will say that Guru seem to be covering all the angles here. An impressive range…
Sweet looking bikes eh! Can’t wait for my Chrono to arrive ![]()
If you want some prices, PM myself or Cdnbiker or you can email us at cranksbicycleshoppe@bellnet.ca as we are a Guru dealer.
*It’s easier to PM or email as with all thier upgrades etc, you can really change the cost of the bikes!
Love the maestro, it looks like a carbon bike should. Why use carbon then mimic 100 year old steel designs? Tantric - not sure if I could ride a bike named after the worst method for having sex invented by man. In general I’ve heard good things about Guru, but it seems like they are trying to be one stop shopping - I prefer that they pick a style or material and keep refining it.

Hmm. I have always liked Guru, but I’m not too keen on all the changes I’m seeing. My thoughts:
All in all, very cool bikes, but I’d rather forego some of the new features.
While all of these are really beautiful the gems are the Crono, Tri-Lite, Cron-Alu and the Carbonio Tri along with the New Steel.
Those bikes are just fantastic. The new seat post set-up on the Tri-Lite and the Cron-Alu is very cool. notice the zero setback of the seatpost head: Thank you Guru!
Beautiful bikes with a level of quality and workmanship not seen anywhere else in the industry.
I will say the pics are great. The real thing is even better. We already have an '06 flite on the floor here.
That’s when dealing with Guru comes in so handy. Don’t want the aero seat post? That’s fine, you can pick a different one!
When I got my Chron’alu, the aero post wouldn’t work for me so they swaped it for a Ritchey post I wanted.
My word, what a diverse lineup of tri bikes; they are serious about the tri market. Very nice!

How about the possibility of switching the front-end of the Cron’alu to VisionTech base bar and extensions? Or is that an aftermarket upgrade?
Other than that, the Cron’alu is definately on my radar!
I assume you’re referring to a non-'06 Guru. The pre-'06 bikes have aero posts that taper down to being round at the insertion point into the frame. Those are easy to change out- just get a post that is round for its entirety. What I am upset about is the bikes that have FULL telescoping aero posts- they are aero all the way into the frame. You are forced to use Guru’s aero post and can’t use a round one (similar to Cervelo, Litespeed, Kuota, etc). Guru does do custom bikes, and I imagine that you could ask for a standard seat tube/seat post, but you’d have to pay the several-hundred-dollar-custom-bike upcharge.
The Guru bikes are the nicest around. Their line is solid from top to bottom with the best build kits around - Ultegra bikes come with Mavic Ksyrium SLs so you can dumb them down and lower the prices real easily or toss on a set of Zipps for less than a $1,000. The Dura-Ace group uses the Easton Delta bar and extensions which are super sweet while the Ultegra group now uses Profile Design carbon extensions and alloy base bar.
BTW - the Maestro is the Crono with a stiffer BB (which i didn’t think was possible). It also has bottle bosses on the downtube (which is a free option on the Crono).
I was at Interbike as well, and hands-down the GURU line was the most impressive. The Aero-Ti was my favorite tri bike, and the carbon fiber Maestro was the most beautiful bike at the show.
