A wesite has these bike frames, NEW, for a little over 100 bucks. And they have it in a 62cm frame which will praobably be what this 6’7" body needs. Legend has it that the frames were found in an old Schwinn warehouse.
Any opinions?

which website? saw them for sale for 150 on ebay but they don’t have all sizes in all colours…I wanted a green one
Ben’s cycles in Milwaukee. They have green and red.
Do you know anything about the frame?
Can’t say as I know a whole lot about it…yet. But going to do some research on them now too. Always thought Schwinn to be a very underrated manufacturer that is plagued with poor management.
They look nice, I might build one up over the winter for a project.

I need a road bike anyway.
My wife has the Supersport GL size small. She got the complete bike with 105 right when Schwinn announced bankruptcy (Feb. 2002 I think it was). You know what? It is a dang nice frame that fits her like a glove. If I had my camera on me, I’d post a pick, because it definitely doesn’t look like all the other bikes out there. Not sure about the size you are talking about, but her is extremely compact. She’s 5’7" with long legs, so with the size small she has a full 10" of seatpost showing. I think it looks kick-ass with some Zipp 440’s on it.
Another thing I like about the frame is the fairly short head tube. The downtube also isn’t as large as a lot of other Aluminum round tubes. Better aero? Lighter? Don’t know, but that is the case.
The best part was the whole bike was just a bit more than advertised prices for the Velomax Circuit wheels it came with.
Go for it.
I have a 2001 Schwinn Fastback, and love it. I’m pretty sure these are the same frames. Mine came with a Reynolds fork and Velomax wheels. I replaced the 105 after a year with an Ultegra / Dura Ace mix, and a long titanium seat post to keep the things smooth. It’s definately a wolf in sheeps clothing, but I don’t see me going back to be a roadie anytime soon, if ever.
For a $100.00 you can’t go wrong, but I’d ditch the fork if it’s treaded. Good luck.

They aren’t exactly the same frames, but very close. The Supersport has a slightly more relaxed seatpost and headtube, plus a tad longer wheelbase. Personally, if I had my choice, I’d choose the Fastback, but both are nice. Would have bought a Fastback for my wife if they’d had her size.
Got an email back from Schwinn but they didn’t have a lot to say about the frames. The GL is a more touring version of the two frames and both are made from 7000 series Alu but they didn’t say made by whom. My guess is…for the money they’re asking they would make a really good commuter…or if properly dressed the Supersport would make a pretty decent first time racer. But then again…it’s more about the motor than the machine anyway. For $130…you can’t go wrong…take some of the money you save not buying a superbike and swap the fork for a carbon one and you’d be good to go. Think I might build one up for the father in law (his old Schwinn has seen her last days). Anyone have any tips on making it a retro combo? He really likes the stem shifters and the dual brake levers (the ones for the tops and the drops) on his current set up since his back isn’t in the best shape. Can I get a 9sp set up to work on the stem shift boss? I have a lot of 9sp stuff sitting in the basement and it would be nice if he could use it…but I think most of those shifters only go to 7sp or so. Can I swap the 7s for a pair of 9 index and hope it will work? Anyone?
I have a Schwinn Fastback that I bought in 2001. I ride it in crits and on my trainer. I love that bike, fits me well, handles great. I have put many, many miles on it and I still enjoy it every time I ride it (even though my “real” bike is a Pinarello).
I think Schwinns are one of the best kept secrets in cycling.
john. i dunno so much about those supersports, tho i think it would be nice. . . . . but, ben’s also has a bunch of NOS schwinn pelotons they are letting go for under 250 bones with a nice alu fork. full reynolds 853, for under 2-fitty. not going to beat that with a stick, my man.
and, ben’s is a quality and worthy shop. one of those mythical old school places, with scads of frames and parts of all sorts hanging and stuffed in every corner. located in a rather sketchy part of inner milwaukee, if you walk in you may see one guy building up a record 10 waterford while another guy stops what he is doing to whack a neighborhood kid’s wheel back ridable, give him a free new tube, and send him on his way even as richard schwinn himself stops by while in town to BS. they support racers and up and comers and events without any pub, as often as not. no, i do not have any affiliation with them in any way - just sayin, they are Righteous Good Bike freaks at ben’s, and your money is well spent there.
