-17 and -6 degree 140mm stems

I may change my 17 degree 140mm stem to a -6 degree 140mm stem… How much would this higher the front end if I keep the same stack in spacers?

Cheers

I used google to find this…and I’ve used it in the past…

please tell me you were educated in an American school as you would have an excuse for your poor grasp of geometry

17 degrees means the stem is flat (or close to parallel to the ground), and the 140 mm (at least for most brands, represent the hypotenuse).

6 degree stem with a 140 stem would also have hypotenuse of 140 mm, oriented 11 degrees above horizontal. 140 sin (11 deg) = 26 mm.

your reach will also by shortened to 140 cos (11 deg) = 137 mm, in other words, negligible amount of change

I just changed them over… my reach is now 2cm shorter!

Going to take a guess and say the 6degree that I thought was 140mm is a 130mm…

Not sure how much it has been higher ed though may have to move saddle back to compensate
