165mm BB30 crank choices

I’m putting together a bike built around a Slice frameset and I’m looking for (somewhat reasonably-priced) 165mm cranks with BB30 spindles. So far the only ones I’ve been able to find are:

SRAM Red
SRAM S500 and S300 (which may not even be widely available yet)
FSA Gossamer (EDIT: looks like the gossamer isn’t available in BB30…)

Anything else out there that’s not ungodly expensive? I’d prefer not to run an adapter for non-BB30 cranks.

What about the C-dale cranks?

What about the C-dale cranks?

~$700 SiSL’s don’t fit the definition of “reasonably priced”, for me :frowning:

.

Put in a $12 adapter and screw the BB30 is my 2 cents. All BB30 did was create a special little market for obnoxiously priced cranks/bb’s. Once again the cycling industry has answered the question nobody asked. Threaded headsets and square taper bb’s worked really, really well.

My local CDale dealer has had numerous issues with getting the bearings to stay put. Some of them he has taken out with his fingers they were so loose. On the QT one of the mech’s told me he feels the tolerances are not nearly tight enough across the different manufacturers on BB30 and he has dealt with it a ton.

Put in a $12 adapter and screw the BB30 is my 2 cents.

Thanks for your opinion, but that doesn’t help answer the question. I’m fully aware that I can run an adapter – in fact, so fully aware that I specifically stated I didn’t want to. I’m fine with running any of the SRAM BB30 cranks, which IMO are a good value. I just wanted to know if there are any other options.

You are welcome! Nope none at all especially since FSA just recalled their Gossamer low end BB30 crank sets… Enjoy the BB30.

Are you willing to look used? Or do you need it to be new? If you look, you could pick up a used C-Dale SI for $200.

Used is fine – lots of the parts on the bike are used. I haven’t seen an Si that cheap, but have been keeping my eyes open here. Haven’t been scouring eBay though, since I assumed Si’s were out of my price range. Thanks for the tip.

I would go the square taper route.

Rotor 3D Plus!!!

FSA Gossamer (EDIT: looks like the gossamer isn’t available in BB30…)

This is the crankset that came with my road bike, yup BB30. Might not be available for purchase but it does exist. It’s really too bad there aren’t more 165 cranks that are quarq compatible. I keep holding out hope.

2 good choices:

  1. Rotor 3D+ comes in a 165
  2. Rotor also makes a tapered BB for BB30 to BSA.

Digging up my own old thread, but…

I just found out today looking at the SRAM spare parts catalog that the Force BB30 crank is available in 165mm and 167.5mm lengths, even though it’s not listed on the website nor are they available in GXP versions. Just FYI for anyone that might be interested.

I have a set of 170 brand new vision bb30 cranks for $50 shipped (no rings) in compact ring version if you are interested.

Bought a set of SRAM Red 165’s off the classifieds, but thanks!
