what’s the scoop?
This is the last thing I saw posted:
Starts on Dec 15th.Rappstar and someone else are working to implement the “challenges” functionality in the ST Training Log. If the training log thing is not ready by then, then we will use the google spreadsheet. Dev will let us know.
yup, we need to start getting this firmed up. I was thinking about it last night. I sure am glad they held off until the 15th.
Although I am generally confused, I am still confused about where we are supposed to go to view andenter the data. My preference is that it is similar to last year where we can all see each other’s data on the same page. That optimizes the “guilt trip” motive.
To ease some of the confusion:
I’m creating a challenge feature on the training log. It will work more or less like this:
- Dev (or someone) creates a new challenge on the training log (via the new challenge feature)
- Anyone (with a slowtwitch account) can sign up for this challenge
- There will be a page for this challenge where all participants are listed, their stats (number of runs etc)
- Each time you log a workout that qualifies for the challenge (i.e. a run in this case), it will be counted towards it, and the challenge report page will reflect this
So the bottom line should be:
- Much less work for Dev (who maintained the Google spreadsheet)
- Less work for st log users since they only need to log their workouts once
- This feature can be used for other challenges too (maybe someone want a “Swim 10K per week for a year” challenge)
So to answer your questions:
- You enter your workouts in the log
- You can see all participants and their stats on a report page
There is some time crunch here, since we need it done before the 100/100 starts. I’m trying to get it done.
If for some reason I am unable to, Dev will manage a Google spreadsheet just like last year
If this feature isn’t set up as the challenge feature, do we need someone to add us to the spreadsheet? How do we sign up if we are’t doing it via the ST online training log?
Everyone calm down…lots of days till this thing kicks off. Petter should have it all up and running and the backup plan is the google spreasheet…for the moment we are planning for success which in this case is an ST log based solution. If the google spreadsheet has to stand in, then we’ll start taking sign ups on Dec 13th or so (a week from now).

But but but…Deeeevvvvv…I wanna know now now now!!!
I was just wondering how this was all going, and found this thread about 4 pages back. Thanks! Maybe a little bump will save someone else some searching.
Good point. I will check in Petter tonite who is implementing the upgrades…was busy with other aspects of life, but we are within 7 days of launch date.
Hopefully everyone has been doing there 4-5 hours of running per week to get the body used to a bit more volume if they have been at the slack end of the running spectrum.
Dev
First version of this feature will be up tomorrow…
