100/100 Airing of the Grievances Thread - 2024 Edition

OK when is this party starting. I have 21km run scheduled on Dec 15th in NZ, so I can feel like a superhero online even though probably 2000 people will run faster than me in the real world on that day!!!

Maybe “something big” means we just do the 100 runs in 1 day… Just get it done all at once?

Waiting less patiently.

I’m 22/22, my best run streak in a decade. I’m just doing it for myself, tracking in strava :man_shrugging:

Nice. I’m at 21. Tracking over on Eric Jensen’s log. Linked above, by Dev.

I’m over 120 miles for the last 4 weeks, and 37 this week. So far the tibia is going strong. Probably, need a down week next week just to be conservative about things. But, feeling good so far, long run broke 10 miles today for the first time since April.

I’m well below that. Did my 23rd run today, all are at least 30 min and my max is under 45, but I’m painfully slow. I’m enjoying trying to get this “volume” building though.

That’s what it is all about!

Great work.

Challenge started on 11/15, MILs funeral was 11/16, so I was 1 day behind right away, which became 2 days

Then I had a weird sciatica flare up just before Thanksgiving, which kept me out for a more than a week (cancelling my annual Holiday Running Festival Lick-Off nonsense) and I’ve been only doing every other day -ish since

I considered hitting the reset on 12/15 and going to March whatever, but … nah!!!

I put in a 3-run push on Saturday - started with a snowshoe run in the morning

Some of the trails had only been traversed by coyotes and deer before I got to them

…then a regular trail run in a blizzard in the afternoon

…then a festive group road run in the evening) to bring myself up to par, since the EJ 100/100 started on a Friday and I don’t run on Fridays.

Glad I got a snowshoe run (and some snurfing) in on Saturday, because by Sunday conditions were no longer favourable!

Still some snow lurking about though

…and the damn river was too frozen to go for a dunk after!

Okay - I am still confused and have officially started to panic. The GF committed to do this with me for the first time so I NEED this challenge to happen this year. Aiming for a start on December 15 (given that we haven’t seen anything in November I guess).
Thanks to someone with much more computer savviness than me we created a “official” tracking and reporting system on our website using google forms. Very grassroots, honour system, manual entry, all free no terms or conditions.
Anyone who is as confused as me feel free to have a look and use this as you please. Oh, there will be no awards, not even a handshake, just your name on top of the results list of course.
The tracker lives here: https://kat209306082.wordpress.com/100-100-submissions/

We are working on adding a page with the “official rules” but if you are here you know the rules anyway (3 miles or 30 min for this one).

Happy winter running!

Not a lot to see

It’s a personal challenge for me, just checking in here because this provides some context and was the original inspiration for me.

Currently sitting at 276 runs and 1550km for the year, hoping to hit 300 runs and 1700km for year.

It’s been a terrific motivator and great for my health and fitness to try and complete this challenge annually. My local runs have gone from ~6min/km to ~5:15/km or so according to runalyze. Starting to add in longer runs and more structured workouts and hoping to tackle 5k and 10k PRs that hav3 stood since 2009/2010 next year.

Good point, well made
Password protection was in place when we built it. It should be removed now.

For reference the tracker that we have used for years still exists… And started on 15 November.

Not sure what happened to the “big plans” that were previously teased here.

Thanks Tom!
Indeed no sign of the “big plans”. We have a handful of people who are starting today and will use our very basic tracker.

For those who are interested - as this is our first year doing this, let me know any issues you run into at academyoftriathlon@gmail.com

Happy running all!

This was also the inspiration for me to start running consistently.

Thank you to everyone who had a part in creating it and keeping it going over the years. It is sad to see it fading into obscurity.

My stats for 2024 are 196 runs and 818 miles. My goal for 2025 is 1,000 miles.

Keep the Faith!!!

If 100/100 lives in you, it lives in The World!!!

There is no reason for it to be ONLY a Slowtwitch thing!!! You can be like me, and do 100/100 on any span of your choosing (I do Memorial Day to Labor Day)

Grievance: not much activity on this challenge.

Last week: quick work travel, and a cross country road trip his past weekend weekend. Very happy to stuck to it, even if I didn’t hit my distance goals and treadmill runs were just survival.

Total, 8 runs, 4hr30, 51.5km.

Started out quite sore and exhausted and with all the travel I was happy to just bang out the minimum runs.

Keeping the faith here!

I think we were all kind of “waiting” for the “big plans”, and probably a bit reluctant to mention Eric Jensen’s log (the former, as yet unreplaced, official log). I’ve been logging my runs over there as I have since 2017 or so. I’m 33 for 33 starting from 15 November.

I continue to be frustrated by the split and the lack of an official replacement, and its obvious impact on the participation in the challenge and this thread. Last year “big plans” were promised, and were a short-hit…with promises to “do better for 2024/25.” Yet, here we sit.

While noting Randy’s ‘sentiment’ that we can all still do our own thing and several of us are…Its disappointing. The few (less than 50?) that are logging something and/or posting here, are the old-faithful. Eric’s log doesn’t really have a viable discussion feature to enable us to have that fellowship-of-the-run over there.

What I’ve always enjoyed about the challenge was the camaraderie, and the support that we give each other, and especially the new participants who aren’t quite sure how to run every-damn-day and survive for 3.5 months.

To be more pointed about it:

So… @rrheisler and @E_DUB, you took ownership of this previously community driven challenge. You made promises both last year, and in this thread this year. There have been repeated attempts to ask what the plan was well back to early November. No “official ST” response has ever come since “the big plans” somewhere around post #3. Its now December 18th, 3 days past the traditional start date, and 33 days past the renegotiated start date as-of 3 years ago.

What is the plan?

The plan is that there isn’t one for this year, unfortunately.

The business decision was made to close out the relationship with the former training log. We “took ownership” of an ongoing event that took place within a community and using intellectual property that…Slowtwitch owns. But I digress.

We used RunSignUp as a test bed last year for logging because it’s been utilized for a ton of virtual challenges I’ve used. Unfortunately, results management was not as buttoned up as I would have preferred it to be (e.g., sorted off of run frequency versus mileage). We ruled out using it again for this season. Eric was involved with multiple discussions on the “big news” front but, if you read the tea leaves of tech news over the last month or so, you can probably piece together what might have resulted in where we are now.

I’m sorry I do not have a better answer for you than that.

Yes, I understand…wasn’t trying to retread old ground. Simply, that here within the bounds of ST, we are beholden to…ST.

I’m a Senior Chief Engineer and manager at a large defense contractor–I’m somewhat aware of the challenges.

I’ve always said that I don’t control the quality of the truth…just the accuracy of it. An answer is…an answer.

Thank you for the honest reply.
