June 3rd…looking for some ideas. Hope I am not too late for a good room as the race is totally sold out.

Don’t know much about hotel recommendation but I’ll be there. Will either get a room the day before or leave early in the morning as I will be staying with my parents in Basel, Switzerland.
But you can get a room in Zurich instead of Rapperswil and take the train in the morning. Very easy to do and they will go on time, Zurich is only 20miles max away, so that should only take 20-30min maximum and the bike is probably already checked in the day before. Even if not, that wouldn’t be a big deal.
Now, if anybody could share a Computrainer Course of the 70.3 Switzerland, that would be sweet!
A few years ago, I stayed at a Comfort Inn around 1 block from the Zurich train station. Nice accomodation and not very expensive (relatively). Good luck…sounds like a fun race…maybe I should look into racing!

Been there!
beautiful hotel if you want to do a sentimental journey to 19th century tourism. 50 yds from hot spring bathing (open since the Romans have been there in the 1 century AD).
Your bike is allowed to sleep inside the hotel
thanks so much…you guys are awesome. My big worry was getting there ontime from Zurich but if you say so then we will book near there.

Check the online time table from the Swiss Railroad: http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/en?
travel time is between 1:09 h and 1:15 h via Zürich Hauptbahnhof from Baden. Don’t forget to use the pulic baths after the race.
From Baden… you will have to change trains @ Zurich.
Rapperswil-Jona is sold out hotel-wise. We are going to be taking a train from near Interlaken (Wengen) and need to travel back to Geneva to fly out the day after the race. We are looking to stay south of Rapperswil or on the other side of the lake.? maybe but I am having trouble finding a town and knowing if there is a train right there in the town that will bring me to Rapperswil. Its like I need to talk to someone who really knows the area. I could always stay in Zurich but it will just make it farther from Geneva. Anyone who can recommend a specific town will be my hero
Not sure I understand what you want. Here is a map of the lake - I assume you meant ‘north of Rapperswil’?. Here is where it gets complicated…
There are two trains leaving Zurich (main train station) that go to Rapperswil:
The ‘S5’ stops at these places (heads away from the lake):
Zurich
Zurich-Stadelhofen
Uster
Wetzikon
Bubikon
Rüti
Jona
Rapperswil
The ‘S7’ at these places (runs down the north shore of lake zurich):
Zurich
Zurich-Stadelhofen
Meilen
Uetikon am See
Männedorf
Stäfa
Uerikon
Feldbach
Kempraten
Rapperswil
Personally, I would look at places like Meilen/Männedorf/Stäfa for a hotel (check the map - about half way down the lake):
http://www.zur-metzg.ch/index1.htm (guest house in Stäfa)
http://www.hotels-and-more.ch/en/zuerich/meilen/ (hotel in Meilen)
http://www.hotel-wildenmann.ch/ (Männedorf)
Or you could stay around the ‘Zurich-Stadelhofen’ - there are a bunch of hotel around there.
http://www.zueri.ch/e/hot007.htm (hotels in ‘Kreis 8’ are within walking distance, max 15-20mins, of the stop Zurich-Stadelhofen)
Either way, to get to Geneva the next day you’ll have to get the train from the Zurich main train station.
Hope that helps.
