I was sworn to secrecy for 48 hours after viewing a still classified photo of the 2005 Guru Crono. Robert at Guru asked me to not even discuss the bike. Today he gave me the OK to start the hype.
The new '05 is Guru’s answer to the new generation of aero, carbon monocoque bikes such as Quota Kalibur and Auintant Roo Lucero.
The '05 Guru Crono is price positioned above these bikes and is intended to be the flagship, ultimate carbon tri bike that consumer’s will aspire to. It is intended to be the Ferrari Testarossa of carbon tri bikes.
I can tell you it looks very, very significantly different from either the Lucero and Kalibur. As a matter of fact, it’s appearance is stunning in that I have not seen a design anything like this in industry. It is a diamond style frame but the general shape of the tubes, profile of the tubes (they aren’t tubes since it is entirely molded) is different than anything I have ever seen. It is also huge departure from current trends. Think “mega-thin”. The profile of the downtube as viewed from the side is so incredibly thin it is about as thick as three magazines- maybe an inch. Very strange and very different.
The shaping is very complex and weird. I have no idea how it will fit/ride/function- but it has attention getting looks.
I am looking forward to more concrete info and a bike when they are available. My inclination is to say I will try one, but we’ll see- they are expensive. But beautiful looking.
The proof will be in the pudding. I think when you see it you will agree there is nothing even remotely like it in terms of appearance out there. Very unusual.
No. Nothing like this. That is what I mean. As viewed from the side, i.e. a profile shot, the “tubing” or frame member at the bottom bracket is so thin it looks like it would just … break right off. It looks like a suspension component on a Formula 1 race car.
Ae viewed from the side the downtube at the bottom bracket is only, like, about an inch thick.
This is not just a bladed, aero wing shaped thing. It is totally different in appearance. Bizzare.
Tom, this thread simultaneously cements your position as Perpetual Slowtwitch Jackass and showcases your marketing genius. You have pictures, but they’re a big secret, huh? You’re killing me. Tibbs must be catatonic.
tom
since we rely on you to release to us all the info on the latest bikes, could you wait until you can post pics. This hype w/ no pics just really makes me want to kick your ass or doom you to a life of drinking foo foo coffee like drinks from starsmucks.
