Northern Light show tonight

It is my dream to see a great show, but it ain't going to happen in Florida.

There is supposed to be another good one tonight. Enjoy if you are someplace that gets lit up.

Thanks!

Yes, very lucky for convergence of aurora itself, dark skies, and zero clouds. Couldn't ask for more.

I couldn't see it with the naked eye, just looked like the sky was lighter. But my niece told me about the trick of using your phone camera and it showed up much clearer. I accidentally put it to video and it was even better.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

If you dare to dream hard enough then it can happen, even in FL.

Yeah, those are awesome. There's a lot of red. Google says that's indicative of the higher energy or something. At least it didn't wipe out the power grid :-)

I saw it pretty good but a more remote location would have helped.

Things I didn’t realize before this…

That the northern sky truly gets light, like an eerie dusk .

That there were more colors than green possible

How fleeting the effects are

How dim the effects are to the naked eye compared to pictures

How glad I am it came to my front yard so I didn’t try to chase this down later in life.

We did turn all the lights off and eyes adjust as much as possible and I still feel this way. Pretty cool experience but wow just a dumb camera phone enhances it 1000%

Oh and sat:sun was nothing compared to Friday night

Cheers.

We were joking about how we'd be alright with it if all the lights we could see just blinked out all of a sudden. Power company here took a few circuits offline prophylactically in anticipation of the storm.

That wasn't Reno. My wife and I went up a mountain late last night to see if we could spot anything.

Nothing. We jokingly posted pictures of the "Reno Borealis" which was the glow from downtown Reno.

Amazingly, I think we were too far south in Minneapolis. Saw a cool image of a satellite image of where they really lit up.

There are times where they look the same to the naked eye as they do in the photos, but that is exceedingly rare.
