Zipps on ebay

has anyone purchased the zipps that are on ebay for under a $1000? is it a good deal or ripoff?

I have saved a lot of money buying bike stuff on eBay. It works great, but you have to insure you have a reputable seller and that you know exactly what you are buying.

…the wheels are real but the dealer seems shady and unwilling to give any real information…I’ve been trying to find out just basic stuff… If you can - go to your LBS and see if you can negotiate them down to a more reasonable price. Too much risk for me…

I have a barely used pair of 2001 Zipp 404’s that I paid less than $400 and are in excellent shape - that price included a cassette and 2 tubular tires…so yes you can find some incredible deals that aren’t shady. Just make sure you ask a lot of questions

In 2003, I bought a pair of new '03 Zipp 404s from Branford Bike (CT) for $950. Someone else I know also got an identical pair from the Bicycle Doctor (IN) in 2003 for $950. Both shops are online. If you buy something like this from a dealer on ebay, I would not buy unless the seller was completely above board including answering questions, giving you real physical addresses, and telephone numbers, answering warranty issues (should they ever come up), etc.

No need to deal with shady characters…

A few months ago, I got a brand new pair of 2002 303s from Trizone.com for $600. When you buy them from a store, you get the full warranty…from ebay you get nothing. Deals are out there, you just have to keep looking and have the money when you find them.
