Has anyone else had problems with their Zipp Carbon Fiber Water Bottle Cage breaking off? I’m disappointed in Zipp’s bottle holder product. Wish they would make good on a design flaw. I should have had my head examined purchasing this type of holder. Any one have any good suggestions for a replacement. Thanks. Smitty
I have two of the first design on my road bike. No problems work great. Had them for a couple of years now. Only used them on the frame down tubes not on a rear bottle mount.
what broke?
Styrrell
Yes and no…great on the frame of the triathlon bike. No problems after using them for about a year now.
The other half had them attached to the x-lab behind his seat on the tri-bike and kept losing bottle after bottle…had to switch to others.
Not recommended for x-lab usage…on the frame they seem to be fine.
I find that all of the carbon cages suck…my big complaint is that if your bottle gets sticky - the extra surface area contacting the bottle makes it hard to get the bottle out…I suggest a King Cage - light, strong, lifetime warranty.
Profile Design Carbon Kage is nice
.
I second the King Cage recommendation. Steel or Ti, no bottle launching, simple design and all the things record10 said.
I have two on an xwing and one seperated from the plastic part on the back. I super glued it and no problems since but definitley cheap construction for a company like zipp
Same place where mine seperated. Re-epoxy the bolder holder to the frame mount. Cheap construction I guess the expense is the carbon fiber. Glad their wheels aren’t a problem.

The worst product made by Zipp…They are bottle launchers…
I use Reynolds cages and have had no problems!! Reynolds pretty much rules!
About a month ago, I grabbed my water bottle for a drink and noticed that half of the zipp cage came with it. The flat part where the bolts are stayed on the bike.
In the meantime, my el-cheapo Performance carbon cage (which is a few grams lighter, BTW) has performed reliably.

Also have a pair of the Profile Design carbon cages, no problems here
.
Same place where my cage broke. Don’t waste your money on this cage. Zip hasn’t responded back with this problem.

Nice cage : $45.00 I don’t know.
I do like the King Stainles Steel Cage. Price is right also.

I have had two no-name brand aluminum cages on by bike for years and never had a problem with them. Never broken. Never come loose. Never lost a bottle!
Nothing against ZIPP - the make the best wheels in the world. For bottle cages, like a few other things - go simple!
