Hey Speed Concept owners,
Have you guys tried to run any of the wider wheelsets out there like the firecrests on the new speed concept 9 series? Are there any issues with fitting them into the integrated brakes? What modifications if any will need to be done to make these work?
Thanks
Brad
I have a 7.5 which is the same frame and same rear integrated brake and it was not a problem (both 808 and 404). Maybe the 9.9 front brake might be a different story but I doubt it.
The front brake pads on the SC9 get very close to FC 808 CC, but no rub. I imagine you could shave down your front pads if you had to. Or even better, I’m sure Trek has a few mods for the front brake (maybe a new spring) to accommodate the wider rims with less headache. Have you searched through the owners thread? Surely, this has come up…

Run 808FCs on my 9.
Works great, though I do have the new Bonty levers, which makes adjustment a snap.
