Has anyone had a problem running 808s on the front and back? I see a lot of people running the 404 and 808 combo, but I don’t really know the difference. I have only had stock wheels, so either will be better than what I have. Thanks.
I run 808’s front and back. No problems at all. Just keep in mind the deeper the front wheel, the more crosswinds will affect your steering.
ahh the 608 combo so it’s called…
808’s front and back are fine… unless you are really small/light and not that confident. For me the only place where deep fronts get me is mountain passes where you have an opening in the hills and you are exposed to wind gusts.

I don’t even know if small/light is a limiting factor… My wife is 5’2" and 115lbs on a good day and rides dual 808’s or 808 front with a 900 rear.
I can’t think of any situation where she wouldn’t race on the 808’s…

my wife is 5’0’ and 100… … CLX40’s were too much, but we live in an area that can get windy. She’s on DA C24’s , was ok with Aeolus3 and Enve 3.4 as well… 40 seemed to be the tipping point.?
Running dual 808’s is fine… until it’s not.
Those who experience this run a shallower wheel up front.

I have 808’s on both front and back and they were fine but the front with gusty wind felt a little push not not terrible. However, I recently dumped the rear 808 and now using Zipp SC9 disc and the front 808 is much less effected by the wind. You should have no problems. the disc really makes a difference

This is my current setup but this is soon to be changed. I just ordered the HED3 Plus tri spoke for the front and will try that with the disc

Thanks for the info, that makes me feel much better. My first set of 808s are on the way.

I think it is actually 606, if you’re talking about 808/404 combo wheel set.
On thread topic, depends on what kind of bike handler you are. A deep front can get a little jumpy in the right wind.
That bike is badass. Love the red decals.
I run 808 on front and back. I’ve never had an issue except on Kona. I had a gust of wind hit me so hard it knocked me out of my clips. When i go back I’ll be running a 404 up front.
As everyone said it depends on your size and speed. In all honesty the savings from a 404 and 808 up front is probably negligible.

Guess different riders experience different things… My wife has raced everything from north east to mid-central to 1/2IM in SWFL (multiple times) so wind has definitely been a factor, yet she has no issues with her 808’s.
