Zipp 650 disk problem

I got a Zipp 650 disk (tubular) for christmas, I think it is a 2003 model but it’s basically new. Anyway, the cut out for the tire stem is so small that I cannot get a inflator head over the stem. I went to the store that sold the disk and they sold me a Genuine Innovations Microflate Co2 inflator, saying that it has the smallest head available.

Back at home I found that this too does not fit into the cut out. I do have the Silca 90 degree adaptor, but this won’t cut it during a race. Anyone have a similar problem and any solutions?

Carry the 90 degree inflator with you and use it with a CO2 inflator.

Yeah, I thought of that, but the 90 degree adaptor has the presta fitting on one end and just a plain hose “male end” on the opposite end. It is designed to be substituted for the standard head on Silca floor pumps.

This link gives a good photo of the adaptor I have.

You can replace the whole head, but most people just insert the 90 into the normal head, works fine.

Upon further review, Ok My brain lapse quit, I see what you mean…what I called a “male end hose fitting” is acutally the same diameter as a Presta?? right, I can simply use the fitting on any inflator! Thanks; Sorry for the stupid thread.
