Zipp 303s

I found a great deal on a pair of Zipp 303s. I was originally looking at the 404s, but the price is incredible. Should I spend the extra $500 for the 404s because of the deeper carbon? I weigh about 160lbs, and I am purchasing them for the Florida Ironman…if that helps for advice.

Thanks

I thought I was the only triathlete alive using 303s instead of 404s  I am not a power rider, and here in Hawaii we have trade winds and quite a few climbs. I only weigh 143# so I went with 303s for weight and climbing and side winds. I like them and would probably buy them again over 404s but I think I am the only one that feels this way. All of my friends have 404s so??? Did that answer your question? No I guess not

What are your thoughts for the heavier riders?

I am around 185 lbs and looking at the 303 vs. 404 as well.

Wind and cost are factors as to why I am looking at the 303’s as well

thanks in advance

I hate to say for anyone else. I have never ridden on 404s. Friends have offered to let me use theirs in races but I couldn’t imagine crushing a friends wheel and laying out $500 for it so I have never taken the offer. Sorry not to be of any more help.

Aloha,

Larry

I just checked on ebay and it seems the 303’s are pretty close in price to the 404’s.

Am I missing something?

Yes, they were about the same price when I purchased mine.

i have ridden several wheels. 303’s are my current setup, and far and away my favorites. partly because they are the road less travelled, but mostly because i really feel like i benefit from their light weight.

i am 150#. i have never been too rough on my wheels, but i have never had to have these trued.

i have also been out on windy days with them, thankful that they are not any deeper than they are.

if i were to have to do it again, i would be willing to pay a premium for them over the 404’s, much less take a discount.
