Zipp 303 (3)

ok, many people think 404’s are the best all around tri wheel out there…but what does everyone think about 303’s…i know lighter and less aero, just wondering if anyone here runs them, and what you think…thank
.

I had a set and they are nice wheels. I always loved putting them on my bike. However, they are hardly comparable to the hed 3s I run now. The Zipps were light and rolled nice. The Hed 3s are a little more jarring but way faster.

They each have their own qualities. I think 303s are much more suited to road racing.

I’m looking at hed 3, jets and a set of spinergy stealth fcc also…1 vote for hed 3

Zipp 303’s are a great, superlight wheelset, but are geared more toward road racing or a lightweight rider. Though, probably if you are really lightweight Zipp 343’s would still be a better choice. I know when Floyd won the tour he primarily rode on 303’s as he was a big weight weenie, when most of his teammates were on 404’s (see here). Then again on his “epic day” he rode 404’s, so then again maybe he wasn’t so much! In either case they would be a great “crit” wheelset

Floyd rode 202’s almost exclusively; not 303’s, including to Morzine.

Ahhh…even more of a weight-weenie than I thought! Maybe he used 202’s on the blow up day and switched to 303’s on the following day

404s, or better yet, the 606, is better suited for triathlon than the 303. However on a road bike the 303s kick ass.

I have 303s and they’re awesome for hilly road races. Super light and even a little aero for the flat sections. But in triathlon, aero is king and you’re not doing lots of accelerations so weight isn’t as much of a concern.
