I’m planning an October 2012 trip to Zion and want to stay inside the park at Zion Lodge.
There are several room types available, so does anybody have any suggestions for what the best room/location might be? Or room types/locations to stay away from?
I can’t lock in to a room reservation on www.xanterra.com until October 2011, so I’m just trying to gather your suggestions at this point. Thanks.
I was just in Zion three weeks ago. I only spent the day driving through on route 9. Route 9 is not very long (20 miles?) and you can’t walk most of it. At the West entrance to the park is small town with hotels and restaurants, and that town has special shuttle buses that drive you into the heart of Zion and couldn’t take more than 15? minutes to get there, in case you can’t find room at the lodge. You’ll take the shuttle there to go to the stores and restaurants at one point, I would imagine. I know nothing about the lodge that you’re asking about, but the room depends on how much time you want to spend in there - the national parks have REALLY improved their accomodations over the last 30 years.
Beautiful place, would love to hike it extensively some day.
