The UCI needs to wake up and smell the coffee. The riders look stupider riding on the nose of their saddles like that, than having steeper bikes.
That position looks so smooth and those red and black CSC colors. FIRE away!!
so UCI rules mean the saddle goes in the rearward position I guess. silly.
I lurv that bike. Really got to get me one. When I do, before I actually ride it I’ll just put it in front of my lounge chair and stare at it.
Reckon those Time, Look, BMC, Orbea and even Lance’s Trek TT bikes have all got that special look and cost a bomb. But somehow I’m just in lurv with the P3C and I’m dead sure it’s performance is spot on.
Looks like he’s about to fall forward over the front wheel. His chin looks to be very close to directly over the front axle.
Tom? Take a guess at his effective seat angle? The reason I’m really asking is that I also ride VERY steep. My seat tip is 5cm in front of the bb. And trust me…I ride ALL the way forward on my seat! My 5 cm is abit less extreme of an angle to the bb, as my seat rails height is 32.25 inches from the bb, as compared to a shorter rider.
It also looks like Zabriskie’s knee is very close to his elbow.
Very cool. Dave’s mom is the secretary in my wife’s doctor’s office. I can’t imagine how proud she must be.
A couple years ago when he was hit by a car, it happened up a canyon about 5 miles from my house.
Nice to see Utah bein’ represented.
Here’s a picture from the other side:

Has anyone heard more about these new FSA cranks and chanrings?
I don’t think there’s any info at FSA’s website yet.

As it should be. I think slowman would agree that this is close to a perfect triathlon position. Comfortable, with a nice hip angle. Nothing extreme really, and attainable to most people, if only they tried. Maybe raise the front end 2-3cm, that’s about it to make it suitable for mere mortals. And I bet you he’d run off it pretty quickly too.
Yeah, like Larsen saying “I am not at all a runner”…then winning LP…his not a runner would get any of us into Boston…
Comfortable
Oh yes…he seems about to nod off.
so who set-up Zabriskie’s position? Was he at MIT or San-Diego? Or did he end up there of his own volition? Can’t argue with the results!
rtm
No, Zabriskie has not been to a wind tunnel.
The only CSC rider’s that did wind tunnel testing are Basso and Sastre last year at MIT.
And CSC doesn’t plan to do any more testing because it’s very expensive and they don’t have a budget like TMobile or Discovery.
As Riis said earlier this year: “Zabriskie doesn’t need to do any wind tunnel testing, his posistion is already perfect”.
WHAT THE HELL IS HE SITTING ON???
The whole saddle is just hanging back there! Could somebody give that guy a SLR T1 or an Arione so that he has somewhere to sit.
Has anybody taken a stab at the virtual seat tube angle. I would guess is no less than 79-80 degrees.
Considering his timing and placing, I would say his seating was just fine thank-U.
I’ve got a P2K but want one of those P3Cs. Can I buy one through the net reliably and at good value?

Giving him a longer saddle won’t help anything.
According to the UCI rules, the saddle shall be 5 cm behind the bottom bracket. That’s why all the riders sit on the nose of the saddle to get a steeper virtual seattube angle without violating the the UCI rules.
The nose of Zabriskie’s Selle Italia TT saddle is cut off soo the saddle is only 24 cm long and can be moved longer forward without breaking the 5 cm behind the BB rule.
Actually a Fiziks Arione saddle violates the UCI rule that says a saddle shall be between 24 and 30 cm long. As the only saddle in the peloton, Airone is longer than 30 cm, but Fiziks got dispensation from UCI for the Arione saddle.
“I think slowman would agree that this is close to a perfect triathlon position.”
it can’t get any better. it’s textbook.
Wait, so is Gerard FISTing his riders now?
Maybe that’s why they look so relaxed with a seat sticking…
" Wait, so is Gerard FISTing his riders now?"
as far as i can tell, he’s been FISTing thimg for some time now.
