Zabel to Lead out Pettachi Train next year

This is going to be insane. Pettachi’s lead out man will be Zabel in 2006. These guys will be untouchable. Good luck to McEwen, Boonen, Hoshovd and crew. It already sounds like the sprint game is over !

Even tough they’re both pretty classy guys. You don’t think there will be any problems in that camp?

How many times do you think Zabel can take being called Pettachi’s lead out man?

I’m not sure, but guess who finished 1-2 at today’s Vuelta final stage…none other than Pettachi and Zabel. I suspect that there will be races where the “train” leads out Zabel and other races where the train leads out Pettachi. The only times when the train will lead out Zabel will be when Pettachi is not on the start line, or those times when he gets dropped somewhere along a hilly/rolling route, but where Zabel can make the “selection”. In any case, it is an Italian team gears to sprinting and the sponsors are going to want an Italian being the prima donna.

I would suspect that Pettachi will be the man at Milano San Remo, the Giro and either the Vuelta or TdF. Zabel will be the team’s top man for the Grand Tour where Pettachi does not show.

I thought is was a German based team? With Zabel having a 3 year contract with a guaranteed Tour start. Zabel still wants to fight for the Green Jersey.

…OK, so they are taking the Domina Vacanze team and more or less moving it to Germany and adding Pettachi ?

I don’t know. It looks like a Kodi and Vino working for Jan situation to me.

it would be pretty hard for the Krazy Khazak to work for Der Kiaser wearing a Liberty Suguros kit.*

i can’t speel drunk

Hmmmm…I wonder why he went to L.S.? Too many cooks in the kitchen?

because his own team was pulling him back whenever he attacked.

Sounds like Heras will hand Vino the Liberty Segouros team leadership for the Tour and Heras will be the man for Vuelta and possibly the Giro, although I can’t see the cold and potentially wet climbing stages in the Dolomites and Alpes in May to be to Heras’ liking.
