Yurbuds

I can’t find a ton of reviews out there on these things, but my philosophy is that I should support the companys that support my sport. Yurbuds paid for quite a lot of ironman advertising so I was hoping to give them a look. Anyone got anything?

love mine. I’ve even fallen asleep with them in. Can’t do that with regular iphone ones. super comfortable.

Agreed, great for trainer work too, no headphone loss, even when drenched. Wife doesn’t like listening to my crap while I’m on the trainer (but she does like that I make our office about 10 degrees warmer)

Have had them for a year and love them.

They’re on my Christmas list. Tried them at a West Seattle running shop, and they’re comfortable, good sound quality, and stay in when you yank them like their little commercial videos. I’m sold, but my wife’s making me wait (life-theme there)

I will agree that they are really comfortable. But… if you need the small size earbuds, they might not work for you.

I e-mailed the company (as they suggest if you can’t get them to fit) and they don’t have a smaller version than the ones that come in the package. So for me, they are just pretty good. I feel like I have too much material in my ear. It doesn’t hurt or really bother me–just not optimal. Even with this, I still prefer them over the iPod headphones.

The remote control buttons are great, too. Way more options than the iPod version.

throwin em in the shopping cart…thanks guys! For 30 dollars it’s almost like buying another pair of headphones.

Yeah, but do they stay in your ear? I have yet to find an ear bud that doesn’t fall out, so I’m forced to use those Sony monstrosities that hang over your ear.

Thanks!

Try these:

They aren’t cheap, but they will not fall out. Amazing sound and noise isolating. I have been using these (and their predecessor) for almost ten years and have had a grand total of two pairs; the quality is leaps and bounds better than most earbuds.

I have tiny ear canals, so most earbuds will not stay in (the cheap ipod ones are the worst). After my first pair of Shures died about a year ago, I tried on a bunch of different pairs but none fit as well as these. The over-the-ear cord and in-ear design is the best I have found for staying in place.

Same problem with me had to use the Sonys and even those sort of slide out of my ear just kinda dangling. Bought the yurbuds a couple of weeks ago and they are great they have yet to fall out.

Thanks buddy, the Sonys did that with me as well.

How is your brother’s PTSD doing?

The Shures are AWESOME headphones… I’ve got a pair myself. But I’d never take them running/cycling. Firstly, when you put these on and close your eyes, a train could pass 15 feet from you and you’d never know it. They are very good at sound isolation. So, that truck that is honking and about to hit you, will hit you.

Secondly, for $100+, they are not waterproof/resistant and I would be pretty sad if I sweat in them and they got ruined.

They do stay in and they also prevent sweat from getting in the earbud that results in that complete muffling of the sound. I actually got a short in one of the wires, but I swapped the rubber covers to an iPod earbud and it worked equally as well. In my opinion, that is all you need. Nothing special about the earbuds that come with them.

He’s doing pretty good right now, just don’t ask him to cut his hair or shave

They are awesome! Got mine when I did Louisville, work great with the iphone headphones, you can hear so much better.

My first pair survived about 8 years worth of sweat from running. They only died because the plastic cover on the part of the cord that goes over my ear finally got britte and cracked, so the wires were exposed. But like I said, that took eight years. I run every day in them and don’t think twice about the sweat issue. $100 spread over eight years worth of runs is a pretty low cost of ownership.

I understand the concern about the sound isolation, though. I wouldn’t cycle with them. But I wouldn’t cycle with ANY headphones in. This is another non-issue for me for running.

Love my Yurbuds. Seems to improve the sound of the crappy iPhone earbuds, very comfortable, and NEVER fall out.

Edit to point out that you will still be able to hear outside sounds with the Yurbuds, which I think should be a requirement for headphones/earbuds for running.

If you don’t mind spending a lot more money than you need to for absolutely crappy sound, go for it. They certainly stay in your ears.

What remote buttons? I just got mine yesterday and there is no remote button which stinks! But I use the buds on my apple earphones and theystay in great!

Never tried the Yurbuds but I have been using the Sennheiser PMX 680i for the past year and half. Best headphones I have used for working out. They stay in my ear and the sound quality is the best for sports headphones and very comfortable. Used them while running and on the trainer. They are sweat and water resistant and you can even rinse them with water after a workout. They are compatible with the iPhone and my iPod shuffle.

They are not completely sound proof and not sure if you want that while training outdoor. Not that I can hear anything when I have the volume up all the way
