Warning: I’m going to finish off your day now!
Do you recall the “squidgygate” tapes where Charles was recorded telling Camilla that he wanted to be her tampon? Who said romance was dead? ![]()

Oh that is VILE. I just feel ill now.
Oh come now…Diana or Camilla, who would you rather get it on with?
If you answer like most men then you would take Diana, even after the crash ![]()
If you answer Camilla, you may have some royal blood in you somewhere
Yeah, don’t say ‘cross’, say 'cranky ’ or he’ll question your manhood.
You also remind me, with the horse riding thing and the Americans can’t speak English thing - why is it that Americans refer to horse riding as horse-back riding? What other way/s of riding a horse is so popular in American that they need make a distinction? Is there horse-front riding? Horse-ass riding? Does the poor horse get any say in this, in the home of the brave?
Diana is still better looking than Camilla.
Yeah, don’t say ‘cross’, say 'cranky ’ or he’ll question your manhood.
I’ll question his manhood regardless of what he says. He’s already admitted to thinking that jellied eels are food.
Better hockey?
O Canada, anytime some team from Ottowa gets beat by a team from SOUTHERN California, you know your glory days are past. Isn’t it like 15 years since Lord Stanley’s Cup has been up there?

Nope, since whenever the winning team wins 75% of the players bring it back up here anyway. ![]()
Oh it gets worse than that. When I moved to the US I still had about 2.5 years on my car loan with GMAC in Canada. So silly me, I walk into a bank to get a moeny order in Canadian funds to send it in. Nope - can’t do it. Can’t get a check written for Foreign funds by the banks either. So you had to do the conversion, estimate a bit given the exchange rates could change, plus, the banks in Canada will buy at a lower rate than you purchase, and pray you cover your payment.
I talked with my neighbour, who worked for Bank of America. What you need to remember is the banks here are not national, like the big 5 (or is it 4 now) in Canada. They are privately owned and are generally pretty regional. This even holds for international banks, like ABN Amro (LaSalle in the US) or TD Waterhouse. As such, they just don’t deal in foreign currency in any paper format. He told me if I wanted Canadian cash for a trip back, I would need to order it at least three weeks in advance, since the request would have to go to Florida, and they would ship the cash to the local bank.
Thank god for ATMs now. And I was at least able to establish an online account with TD Waterhouse, and could then electronically move funds between the country. But what a differnce.
Agreed. With ATM’s this is more or less moot these days unless you are in a situation like you had with payments needing to be sent back to Canada and living in the U.S. Just strange that in a country like the U.S. that fancies itself as being progressive that in this one area it’s behind the rest of the world. In Europe, with Euros now it’s a non issue, but even before the Euros, it was no problem exchanging one currancy for another whereever you were.
I spent 1995 travelling the world - mostly in SE Asia, India, Nepal and E. Africa. What I found interesting during that time abroad was the fascination many of the countries that I was in, had with the U.S. dollar. Many people’s saving consisted of U.S. dollars stuffed in a mattras in their homes!! People in many countries would do anything to buy U.S. dollars.
The fascination with US currency is not surprising. First, it was a strong, stable currency, not prone to fluctations compared to many. It was much like investing in gold in that manner. Secondly, many countries track the amount of currency leaving their country. When I was a grad student, I did some work in South America. The profs at the university would kill for US currency to be able to buy current publication subscriptions or the latest books, becasue any time they purchased US currency, these would be tracked and limited, so if they could get anything off the books, it gave them greater flexibility.
What impact does all the U.S. currancy outside of the U.S. have on the U.S. economy? I am not an economist, but I often wondered about that. There must be millions/billions of U.S. dollars in cash that are completely out of circulation in the U.S. economy. I doubt any other country has to deal with something like that.
Canadian coins are normal in the Maine-province. I think it is part of our adoption-as-a-province-process. More is More, when do you think I will start to see Canadian paper bills?
![]()
Well, that’s a more gradual process. First we have to get you used to having paper money that comes in more than one colour ![]()
Better hockey?
OK I really have to laugh at this one. Better hockey, HAH HAH.
We just send our good players down south because otherwise you wouldn’t have a clue what good hockey is. It is also a way for us to gradually siphon funds out of the US, weakening your economy. We are planning on a hostile takeover of some of your nicer states (Maine, Washington, parts of California, Vermont, and a pretty good chunk of the Midwest).
We have ten-dollar bills that have some color. Twenties too maybe? I don’t know, I’m a college student, I operate on quarters and dollars ![]()
American bills all look the same to me. Our 5’s and 10’s are blue, our 20’s are green, our 50’s are red, our 100’s are a weird brownish colour. I don’t have anything bigger than that on me right now to confirm.
We don’t bother with 1 and 2 dollar bills.
At least we don’t have dead people on our coins.
Dude.
Howzabout you try putting a flipping Canadian (or even a Canadien ;->) ) on your coins? You put somebody else’s head of state on your money, and then get all high and mighty? Puh-leeze! That’s kinda like if we had…oh…Mussolini on our money. WTF is up with that? You lacking in Canadian dignitaries? Put Maurice “Rocket” Richard on the fiver, fercryinoutloud, and Wayne “the Greatest” Gretsky on absolutely everything else (didn’t Doug Flutie play some football up there in North North Dakota, too?) Come on…think about it…Canada is full of great people…there must be someone from Canada worthy of putting on your money…you don’t really need to borrow England’s Monarch do you?
Sheesh…At least the dead people on our money were from our own country.
I know! Let’s put a duck on the dollar! You Canadians crack me up.
(iunseurt smiuliueus in aupproupriaute plauces if you dooun’t hauveu a seunse o’hooumeur abootcha.*)
Technically, she is Canadian…but I take your point
.
in order to pick a fight with us, you need to be able to find us on a map, which Americans can’t do so I think we are safe. ![]()
