they risk the kid’s life by getting too close to a buffalo – and cut her loose to get flipped

i try to keep my outrage low but man this is bad.

floridaman, I mean floridaparents. Looked like a good flip and she had a chance to stick the landing.

Parenting instinct = 0
.

That’s what I said to my husband! Parents totally bailed on the kid! Assholes. They deserved to be flipped.

Ya the parents need a little bit of this…

That was awesome. She’ll have a few bruises, but a story for life… and video!!!

lethal accuracy

Last year while out at Sturgis we rode through Custer State Park in S. Dakota and got surrounded by a herd of buffalo that were crossingthe road. I’m talking hundreds of them we had nowhere to go they were inches away one of them even bumped my brother’s motorcycle. They were huge, they were going wherever they wanted to go.

I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often. When we were there some of the Asian tourists going around on Tour buses seemed particularly clueless. They liked to walk out and get way too close to snap a selfie.

Have not seen anything saying those 2 adults seen running where her parents. There was a large group of 20 or 30 people around the bison.

Life lesson: “You don’t have to be able to outrun the _________, you just need to be faster than someone you’re with.”

The article said they were her parents.

Talking about parental lapses in judgement:

remember this one?

I think it was the bison equivalent of get off my lawn.

Fun physics estimation…

2000lb bison
took about 4 seconds to get to the child
looked like he was going maybe 15mph when he hit her

= about 1360N of force.

That kid is really lucky.

It’s sudden stopping that is more of the issue than sudden acceleration

Couldn’t help but think of the hardcore training montage in Nacho Libre…

They are HUGE!! We stayed in the WAB’s
Right there at Old Faithful and I went out of our tiny cabin to go to the showers. One was walking down the parking lot - maybe 10 feet from my door and I was so glad I could just stay in the doorway and watch it go by. There were people following it and taking its picture. I just stood in my doorway and took pictures, I didn’t want to get rammed!
