your FIRST mistake was, when you felt you were not getting the service you deserved, not going to the head of the coaching group to express your displeasure. this would have probably brought about changes to make you happy. that is the nature of a service business…keeping the customer satisfied.
your SECOND mistake was, seeing that your coach was having financial difficulties, trying to take advantage of his situation in order to save 40% on your coaching fees. in most commissioned positions, agreeing to your proposal would be an offense that could get him fired. i suppose you do not feel any guilt for not paying the coaching group their 40% over this time…or for risking your “friend’s” job.

your FOURTH mistake was anonymously signing up today on this forum solely to whine about your situation. i am surprised at the number of responses actually sympathizing with your plight. you gladly cheated the coaching group out of their fees by taking advantage of a “friend’s” misfortune and now feel cheated because you didn’t get everything you would have gotten if you had remained with the “reputable” group. i’m not saying that what your coach has done is right…he is obviously not an honorable person, and hardly a real “friend”. but i can’t say that you have an abundance of integrity either.

Yes, you were generous and kind. Yes, you’ve been taken advantage of. Yes, he owes it to you. Don’t let it cost you any more than it has. Cut your losses, wash your hands of him and walk away. This person doesn’t need to be your problem any more.
have you seen ‘a bronx tale’? you got rid of a guy you probably didnt need to be friends with for a few bucks. no big deal. in the movie it was only 20 bucks though.
besides, if i read your post correctly, you only paid him 60% of the value and got 50% of the product. you are only really down 10% if you are going to start comparing to the initial option of the real coaching plan.
another relevant example is when seinfeld slept with his maid and she stopped cleaning so he stopped paying then she stopped showing up.
