You know you're getting old when

Being old enough to be a coworker’s father was normal the last handful of years I was on active duty.

Now there are 2-3 young enough. One of them likes to tell me I say shit like his dad says.

When on the morning news they are talking about and showing clips of the long gas lines during the Oil embargo of the ‘70s and you think that might be you in the red beetle

..after dropping something on the floor, I will look around for something else to pick up while I am down there. You know - so I don’t need to stand up and then bend down again.

. . . when a 16 year old on the top team (Arsenal) in the top league English Premiership) is scoring goals.

When I was 16, I was only dreaming I had pro level talent.

This is a good thread for me today. As my birthday is today!

29 is not old.

This is me but in a different profession. Lots of the people that work for me are younger than my sons.

And yes, the first time I was talking with one of the staff, his age came up, he was younger than my older son - I was like “wow” I’m old. I’m sure he thought the same thing. That was a few years ago…..

Happy birthday!

Same thought with my daughter.

For me, it was really when our rookies were suddenly younger than my time on the job. That happened at 21 years in (5 years ago) - you can’t join my line of work under 21.

For some reason that didn’t bother me, but I was doing that other forum stuff and winning races so I “felt young”. But now most of my teams don’t have any-one older than my time (30+ years) and its no longer “getting old” - it’s just old….

is grunge considered classic rock now?

This actually happened to me yesterday.

As I drove through Ohio State’s campus today I noticed how much things had changed since I started there. Then I thought maybe it should have changed more. Since today is further from 1985 than 1985 was from the end of WWII.

I follow my old university’s feed on IG, and constantly say “that looks nice; I kinda wish I’d stayed”

My Art School building, however, is now an Old Navy. It got a nice post of its own, though, not long ago

When you find yourself actually driving the speed limit.

A teammate was in the LA Olympics, the last one.

I’ve been doing that for a long time. But I drive an old, slow car that was a family hand me down so it’s a combo of not being a thrilling experience and wanting to look after it.

Pete Pfitzinger (11th in the LA Olympics marathon) was a teammate of mine, only one year ahead.

My car will do 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and I still drive like an old man.

I heard Nirvana playing in a grocery store a little while ago.
