it’s 94 on your patio at 11:00 PM
your pool feels like the same temperature
you put your sunglasses on in the car and they burn your nose
lady in my office attempts to bake cookies on the dash in her car and it almost works
your group ride cancels because it is 109
you draught resistant plants are withered up and dying
upon climbing a small hill on your bike, you realize that because you chose to ride in such extremem high heats these could very well be the last minutes of your life; and then you pass out over your handle bars.
your pugs can’t stay out for more than 5 minutes.
you run at 6am to avoid the heat, yet when return from a 3.2 mile jont and have lost 7 pounds of water weight.
I spread 6 cubic yards of bark in the yard yesterday morning and promptly passed out and slept for 4 hours. It was so hot there were no takers at the day labor center.
You’ve been at 0 F forever in the depths of the Alaskan winter when all of a sudden the Gods decide to send a 35 degree day. You run a round like a mad man in shorts (speedo???) and T-shirt, and you think it’s balmy…
Okay, go ahead, call me a freak, but I absolutely love this heat and humidity… and it’s not even August… the best is yet to come! 100 degrees/100% humidity… when I walk out of the door, my body just sighs in contentment.
And since I’m an early riser, I really enjoy running at 5 am… with the humidity at that time of morning, the air is almost always a bit foggy and the scent of the flowers is so intense… the jasmine, the gardenias, the magnolias… absolutely my favorite time of the year to run.
Come home to a cold shower, a hot mug of coffee and watch the sun rise… life is good.
You don’t want to trade. Bagged my run this morning because I woke up late and it was already upper 90’s a little after 7 in the morning.
Jeff
Where do you live? I don’t like heat and humidity, but I love hot and not humid. Like here in the East Bay or AZ. I lived for 2 years in AZ and worked outside every day.
Sunny here right now but cold and the fog is rolling in. Hate it.
I hope that fog bank is at least 1000 feet deep so it can begin pouring over the east bay hills and down here to the San Ramon Valley where its a balmy 104 right now. It was 90 when I went to bed last night at 9:30 and 81 inside the house when I got up at 6:00 am…88 in here right now and building.
The marine layer yesterday was only got up to 900 feet and the fog didn’t get past Grizzly Peak…WE WANT OUR AIR CONDITIONING DAMMIT!!!
I’m in Phoenix. I don’t mind the heat late morning or in the afternoon. But when you walk out your door at 7 am and it is hot and at least more humid than later in the day, it is harder than normal.
Ah yeah, I remember that. I worked helping to build an adobe house just on the So. Mnt. park border one summer and we worked 5AM to about 11AM. I spent the rest of the day laying in the pool on a raft with a jug of water poolside.
