Choosing the shittiest band name available probably didn’t help much.
Well there are a lot of bands with shit names but great music just as there are fuck rotten shit bands with great names, The Ready Set for example.

Great name but they should be killed.
True. I dig their music. This one has a great Paul Simon thing going on.

One of the most underrated bands of all time.
This is a pure pop gem!
Chixdiggit …
Fleck. Come stand at my right side. You have shown yourself worthy of my taste. I will teach snobbery like you have never experienced and the world will open up to your super powers.
what no love for garage grunge?
Sorry, had to run. I miss the days of tiny clubs, bad beer and seeing your buddies band. Garage rock is the seeder to great rock. You join it when you are just a young pup. You learn basic set ups and do crappy gigs while drinking too much. It’s beautiful. Kids these days want the fame NOW! So they learn producing before angst. Computers before power chords. Rock is suffering because of it.
Chixdiggit are a dying breed. Pioneers in a dying frontier. Go see their shows people and buy them beer. You will better yourself doing it.
Yeah they are have a great sound and a funny history…
When I get home today I am going to look them up. Sounds like my kind of band.
Since Nov 11 is coming up …
they made today’s local news

Tibbs,
Thanks.
Through the late 70’s and then in the early to mid 80’s I was very lucky.
Check some of CFNY’s chart and play lists at the following link. It’s a treasure trove of some amazing music - http://www.spiritofradio.ca/Charts.asp
It’s funny how so many think of the late 70’s and the early 80’s as being terrible for music, but that’s because they are connecting the time period with the awful top-40 schlock of the era. However, behind the scenes and under-ground was were real things were going on in the music business. Whole new musical genre’s started to emerge punk, rap, hip-hop, electronica, alt-folk, power-pop, etc . . .that never got commercial air-play then, but evolved over time to be very popular now.
I’ll leave you with Mark Johnson’s ( aka The The), sprawling and epic classic “Giant” from 1983 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnduohfNq_Y
Sounds fresh and vital nearly 30 years on! I note that Johnson was one of these one-man bands recording nearly all instruments/vocals on his own!

Good stuff.
Indeed, Radio 3 is a great place for exploring new stuff. When at home these days, I tend to listen to CBC 1 for news, and CBC 2 & 3 for music as well as Jazz 91.1 in Toronto.
We also have a whole bunch of satellite radio channels that we get access to through our Bell ExpressVue - http://www.galaxie.ca/en_CA/ ( Also from the CBC) When working at home, I listen to the “Chill Lounge” a fair amount. I am in a bit of a phase where the best music to me is a lot of the music this style - chill, trance, electronica, ambient with a bit of a beat and a bunch of other stuff mixed in - the whole Ibiza/Cafe del Mar/ Buddha Bar thing. Can listen to this stuff all day!
I have about about 500 LP vinyl records and about the same number of CD’s. Don’t listen to them much these days. My goal some day is to start to convert a lot of favourites from both collections into MP3 and make my own “Albums”
Lonely Boy - The black Keys…anything by the boys from Akron Ohio is soulful and amazing. If you need metal I’m stuck on Mastodon - Curl of the Burl & Stargasm
Do you listen to the current? Jim Brown was standing lately and I love his hosting style… he is our morning guy on CBC Calgary and he is awesome. I’m eager to hear “Q” this week with the Kermit the Frog interview since my kid will want to see the movie
