Our state TT champs took place last weekend. I managed 3rd place in the flat-and-windy 36km course, in just over 50 mins. Pics below:

Pretty good low back, but arms to streteched out in front. Move our hands 5-8cm and you’re there.
And congrats on the result ![]()
Congrats.
As SA mentioned and lose the water bottle…
whoop de shit on the position, looks cool to me. More importantly, that is one sweet looking bike
lose the water bottle…
I considered dropping it, but it was over 90 F and I decided for the safety of knowing I had it on me (ended up taking 3-4 sips over the course)… factor in time lost due to water bottle on frame + time lost due to reaching down, drinking water, putting bottle back… probably wouldn’t amount for the extra 30s I would have needed to reach 2nd place. Still, it’s definetively a point for shorter courses or cooler weather days.
Not too sure about the front end comments, look at the Lance hour record thread and compare you to Boardman. Looks pretty similar to his position. If it works keep it. G
Moving the arms back won’t speed you up, unless comfort was an issue.
What category racer are you?
Ever tried a low volume camelbak under your skinsuit, Rick?
For the local races, TT state champs included, I’m simply grouped into “Elite” - we don’t have the cat. system the way the U.S. does, and anyone who wants to give the money a go must race the pro/elite race.
For national level races, I am Under-23 (my last year, btw).
I thought you were a triathlete?
You are definately in an aero position, but there is probably some stress on your shoulder muscles, try coming back a little bit on the extensions.
Well, you got the disc right.
Is that my eyes, or did you saran wrap your helmet?
What kind of frame is that?
Never tried. I’ve seen some euro-dudes doing it - looked weird to say the least, but maybe it is indeed faster. Might be worth checking if I can borrow one to give it a try.
Nope, full time roadie here.
Someday later, I’ll give IM racing a shot, but not just yet.
It could also help cool you if you pre-cool/ice the bladder.
Well, you got the disc right.
The Renn disk is FANTASTIC. Nothing beats the sound of a solid disk rotating btw.

Adhesive tape + blow dryer does wonders…
What kind of frame is that?
2004 Basso Devil. It was my old road bike before I got my team-issued frameset. Considered selling it for an specific TT frame, but the idea didn’t work out so I kept it and built the TT rig up.
I did wish it had 2-3cm shorter head tube though.
