It looks great. Do you have any comfort issues? Have you ridden the trainer long enough to determine if anything tweaks you wrong?
I’d say you are so close that the only changes needed are to remedy little nagging comfort issues.
I’ve done two trainer rides on it so far. The first I did with the saddle from the previous owner, a Specialzed Toupe and I hated it. For yesterday’s ride I installed a new John Cobb V-Flow Plus saddle and after about 20 minutes my taint started to hurt. I’m really not sure what the deal is with that. There were no troubles (I rode for an hour yesterday, mainly in aero) in my shoulders or back that I could tell and other than my nether regions bothering me a little I felt more comfortable than I ever have on a tri bike.
One way to limit pain in the perenial area is to rotate your hips back and force the sit bones back on to the seat, but doing this requires a good bend in the lower back which may not be good for you, even if it doesn’t cause your back to hurt.
Barring that (which isn’t an option for me) a lot of people have suggested to me that I get an Adamo saddle and actually sit on the tip with the scrotom suspended over air.
im no expert but your position looks solid just like jy said… seats not too high(though someone will say it lol) arms are at close to 90 degrees and you look comfortable… Nice bike btw!
The instructions that came with the saddle mentioned what you are talking about as far as hip rotation. I tried raising the tip of the saddle a hint, as the instructions recommended, and it didn’t really make much of a difference.
I had thought about getting an Adamo saddle, but I was having a hard time as aesthetically they bother me. I figured getting the latest Cobb designed saddle would be a compromise since I like the look better, but it doesn’t seem to be working out. I sent an email to John Cobb looking for advice, we’ll see if he writes back… Thanks for the help!
If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of a deal did you get on your used p3?
Your position looks acceptable by my eye.

If you’re worried more about how your bike looks than having your junk actually work, you’ve got bigger problems. ![]()

Hey! Looks are important! If you look bad, your junk won’t get to be used anyway! ![]()
I’m not sure what the reasoning would be behind raising the tip of the saddle. You can lower the tip to get rid of this issue, but that just creates 2 more issues:
- you slide forward due to gravity whenever you relax on the handlebars
- as you slide back and forth the distance to the pedals changes too much
Just make sure the saddle’s RAILS are level. Many saddles are designed with a slight downward tilt in the saddle shell and I think they are intended to be mounted with the rails level.
Try moving the seat forward a little bit more as another alternative. Then with your body in the same place you are sitting on a wider part of the seat.
I think the instructions said that by tipping the nose up a mm or 2 it would slide you further back on the saddle. It did however say in bold, italic, and caps to not tilt the nose down. I think I’m going to try and slide it forward a bit, that seems to make sense.
