If I’m right on the borderline between a medium and medium long, which one should I err on? I’m not able to try them on, so that’s out of the equation. I’ve got longer legs/arms compared to my torso. Roughly 6ft, 175-180, depending on whether or not I visited the local buffett. Thanks.
Maybe the ‘turq’ will chime in as I know he is on ST at times. Good choice on a wetsuit.
In general, I try to fit the weight first and then the height. As long as the crotch to shoulders length works well, you can always pull the arms and legs up a little higher. Some wetsuits are designed this way.
What is ‘roughly’ 6ft? Is that like just about every male being 5’10" even though they are only 5’8.5"? If roughly means 5’10" - 5’11" then I’d go M. If roughly means 6’ to 6’1" then I might give the MLO a try.
I think that you’ve got a couple of weeks to try it on and return for a different size if it doesn’t work.
I’m 6-5 (not “roughly 6-5”- if anything I’m taller, just havent been measured since high school) and I weigh in at 200-205.
I went with a large john. Thing fits pretty tight- takes me about 5 min to get on… and its a real bitch to get it tight in the crotch area…
My sister is 6-0 (again, not roughly. exactly) and 150-160 depending on the season… I’m pretty sure she went with a men’s small. granted- women are built differently.
My advice?- go to the website, go to the size chart, theres a link to email, like size@xterrawetsuits.com im not sure, go there to doublecheck
Give them your measurements, inseam, bike size, weight, build, wingspan, underwearsize… maybe not that- but anything about your body type, and what you want- john or fullsuit.
Brian Walters will give you advice on what to buy. I emailed them (im built weird) my sis emailed them (shes built weird) and the PRESIDENT of the company will send you back a response as to what he thinks you shoudl get.
do that
ignore everything else.
k?
Thanks for the responses. I’m 6ft, not sure why I typed “roughly.” Anyhow, since I’ve got longer legs, the size chart says to take two inches off the height, which would make me 5’10’’ and size M. If I would take an inch off of my height, then it says Medium long. As mentioned, the chart says “if you have longer legs” than you take the two inches off. I guess with the arbitrary “longer” and since my legs aren’t disproportionately longer, but alas, longer, I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue and which size to err upon? As has been stated, I can always try one out, but would rather not have to send one back. Thanks again.
I was in the same situation… I called Xterra wetsuits and they walked me through the decision and scored a beautiful fit.
Good luck!
X2 for call them. They do a great job fitting as long as you give accurate measurements
Thanks everybody. Did call them, great help and as mentioned, two week return policy if the fit doesn’t work. Also, they have some great deals on wetsuits, but it looks like it ends today…
