I need to replace my mountain bike shoes in the very near future and will be doing an Xterra next year so I thought I would ask what everyone uses. Easy entry, easy to run in. I most likely will use these next year as well for a few cyclocross races. So any thoughts would be great.
I use Sidi’s, which are great mtn bike shoes, but not as good for quick transitions (buckle system is hard to do on the bike w/ one hand…). Don’t have any specific recommendations other than getting a shoe w/ JUST velcro straps - like the road Tri shoes, it could help you w/ quicker transitions.
Based on a couple hike-a-bike’s I’ve had to do in trng & racing, I think the Sidi’s would be fine for cyclo-cross too - stiff outsole but comfy upper. Maybe try an online cyclo-cross forum and search for some of that crowd’s favorites.
Specialised Experts are very popular because they have a three strap system (the one a the toe doesn’t need to be undo) unlike the Carbon Pro which has the ratchet strap that slows transitions down. Otherwise they are the same shoe.
